Trump questions whether turkeys are really justified because they are ‘fat’

President Donald Trump pardoned two Thanksgiving turkeys on Tuesday, continuing an unusual American tradition that has been going on for decades. And when Trump read a speech that included a line of turkeys that were “Maha,” a slogan for making America healthy again, the President seemed unfazed.
Why is Trump concerned that these birds were associated with Maha, a movement that was coordinated by health secretary Robert F. Kennedy yr.? The turkeys were fat, as Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, according to Trump.
“Despite their size, Secretary Kennedy has officially confirmed that these are the first turkeys ever. I don’t know if I agree with that. These are huge. “In other words, they may be fat, but they’re still fat.”
Trump went on to say that the turkeys were fed a variety of things, although it’s unclear if he was reading his speech correctly.
“They got fat on a solid diet of grass … beef to let smoothies and all the other things they ate at this event,” Trump said.
Trump may have meant “fed beef,” though we can’t be sure. It is also possible to misread “beef” as “beef to allow.” Trump’s entire declaration “to allow smoothies” does not make systematic sense, so we must think that it will be something like “grass and tender beef”, since turkeys do not use beef.
But who knows? Trump actually needs to wear reading glasses, and his refusal to do so is often blamed for his illiteracy for his inappropriate teleprompter remarks. Or, in this case, on the page of paper in front of him.
“This was a really big time, but they ate all the junk food you can eat,” Trump continued. “We’re working like … we wanted to make them really special, and they really are. They’re like recording machines. I’ve never seen a big turkey before.”
Trump asked someone outside the field, perhaps one of the turkey farmers on hand at the event, that the turkeys were violent.
“Are they violent at all? Are they going to attack as I’m walking. Because if they were, I’d be up here,” Trump said.
The Maha movement is full of pseudoscience and seems to focus too much on things that don’t make people small. Rfk Jr., for example, seems to be worried about getting fast food restaurants to replace corn oil with beef, something that is argued to taste better but does nothing to make it healthier or reduce its power to make people crazy.
But Trump is aware of the weight and often reveals the political makeup in excess, despite his weight. When the President spoke later in the speech about Illinois Gov Pritzker, he called him a fat slob.
“The mayor is incompetent, and the governor is a big fat man. He should invite us, say ‘Chicago is safe,'” Trump said.
The President said Pritzker should get his act together and allow him to bring in the national guard. And about a minute later, Trump said he wouldn’t even call the Pritzker a fat slob.
“And I had a little pritzker joke. I was going to talk about Pritzker in size, but when I talk about Pritzker, I get angry because he is not my little joke, you know,” said Trump, “Trunk said, turning the pardoned festival into a festival.
“Some speechwriters made a joke about his weight, but I would never want to talk about his weight,” Trump continued. “I don’t talk about fat people. I refuse to talk about the fact that you are a fat writer. I don’t say it.”
“The governor is a great fat man.”
[1 minute later]“I had a bit of a pritzker joke. Some respondents wrote a joke about his weight, but I would never want to talk about his weight. I refuse to talk about the fact that he is a dimwit.”

Trump went on to admit, “I’d like to lose a few pounds, too, by the way. And I’m not going to lose Thanksgiving, I can tell you that, because I’m going to have turkey, but there won’t be.”
Trump and his good friends often comment on Pritzker’s weight. Billionaire Elon Music once wrote, “There is nothing more dangerous than following between JB Pritzker and the Buffet table! ” But Pritzker responded with, “I’m crying @malindeleleko, Not the Nazis,” referring to a popular Chicago hot dog restaurant.

Musk had given two Nazi salutes a few days earlier at an event celebrating President Trump’s inauguration.
Trump’s speech on Tuesday looked forward, with the President saying a lot of things that were very misleading about inflation. Trump has insisted that food prices haven’t gotten worse since “Biden-Era Highs,” which is technically true. But he didn’t deal with the fact that inflation occurred shortly before Trump took office in January and has been stumbling as his tax policies have been formulated.
For example, Trump says the lower prices are from those Biden-era structures, without mentioning that they have risen since he took office. This is a graph from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis shows that prices in Mdwetheni will dip significantly in the fall of 2024, then rise in March 2025 after the second opening.
Trump also claimed that gas prices will be closer to $2 per gallon, something that is just not right. The current rate of inflation is 3%, according to Bureau of Labor Statisticsdown from the 9% peak in the summer of 2022 (those biden-era frames) but from the 2.3% found in mid-April 2025.
