PWC Philippines chairman and senior partner Roderick Danao shared that the firm’s sustainability efforts reflect the commitment of the PWC corporate network to building trust and solving important issues in society.
“Most, if not all, social problems are rooted in inequality. While we can’t end this on our own, we have our vision to close the gap. There is hope for renewal and long-term change for our beneficiaries,” said Rick.
As the country faces a severe shortage of 165,000 classrooms and basic school supplies based on 2025 data from the Department of Education, PWC Philippines thus strengthened its use of the “seat of hope.” Since 2013, more than 10,220 seats have been donated to about 122 schools in other services throughout the country, reaching as far as Zamboanga del Sur. In FY2025 alone, 1,200 seats were provided, benefiting nearly 2,400 students and fostering a rewarding learning environment.
Meanwhile, with a close to 40% drop in Philippine college students based on 2021-2022 data from the Commission on Higher Education, the Firm has expanded its scholarship program. Starting with only 20 scholars, the program now provides financial assistance to high-achieving high school and college students from low-income families each year, supporting their pursuit of higher education. In FY2025, 57 new scholars were admitted to the program. As PWC Philippines carries the ultimate vision of translating job opportunities, 20 scholars out of 27 scholars passing the Certified Public accountant technical test (CPale) joined the company this year.

Moving away from traditional CSR, “tourism with a purpose” is an important approach that combines solidarity, volunteerism, and local tourism support. Launched in 2014, purposeful tourism encourages employees to integrate volunteer work into the company’s craft activities, strengthening community relations and promoting responsible tourism. Actions in FY2025 focused on education, environmental protection and animal welfare. These include beach cleaning in Boracay, mangrove planting in Bhol, distribution of school supplies in Aklan, and animal welfare programs in Batangas. Since the program was established, more than 50 volunteer sessions from various lines of service have been realized throughout the country, gathering more than 500 volunteers each year.
In furtherance of its goals of community engagement, health and wellness, PWC Philippines is rolling out “100 Days of Christmas”. Launched in 2023 initially as a food program, it has now expanded into activities focused on hospitality and gift giving. In just two years, the firm has partnered with foundations, community centers, schools and districts to create 16 figures, bringing warmth and happiness to more than 3,000 children from underserved communities.
PWC Philippines also moved its environmental efforts last year by establishing a partnership with SM for a quarterly beach cleanup in Manila Bay. The firm is filled with its volunteers for the cleanup conducted by the governor of Manila, especially during important celebrations such as Ocean Day, international beach cleanup day, and national youth day for climate action.
