Jane Tonda warned Warner Bros. Discovery Sales ‘Threaten’ the First Amendment

Actress and activist Jane Powana wrote an OP-ED in Ankler on Thursday, warning that the potential sale of Warner Bros.

Fonda continued, “regardless of which company ends up getting Warner Bros. Diversity in the news that Americans hear.”

As noted in Netflix’s Friday statement, the streaming giant has only purchased a portion of the company, along with HBO and HBE Max. The cable news side of Warner Bros. Acquisitions, including CNN, TNT and acquisitions, will be separated into their own publicly traded, global acquisitions.

Continuing his criticism, Fonta said that any company that acquires Warner Bros.

The actor warned that no matter how dangerous the “economic collapse” could be, that is not what scares him the most about sales.

“What amazes me — and should shock anyone who cares about a free society — is how this administration has used the expected mergers as tools of political pressure and calculation,” he wrote. “We’ve seen this in action. During the Skydance-Paramount merger, the FCC chairman launched an investigation on 60 Minutes about Kamala Harris’ pre-programming — what it means for the first amendment.'”

FOX News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment.

The actor asserted that “the first amendment is not stubborn and could not resist to protect it,” and even conservative leaders have warned that the Trump administration is “operating without legal and moral limits.”

To close his thoughts, Fonda called for an organized effort to resist Trump, warning that “if we don’t speak up now, we may not have an industry – and no democracy – left to protect.”

“This is not a partial war. It is a fight for our creativity, our ways of life and our most basic rights as Americans. I choose to stand up. I hope you will join me,” he concluded.

Warner Bros. Acquisitions and Netflix did not immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
