Israel, Hamas to enter the second stage of elimination soon, said Notanyahu – nationally

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that the Israelis and Hamas said that “it is unlikely that they will enter into the second phase of the ceasefire,” After Hamas returned the remnants of the last shipment to Gaza.

Netanyahu spoke during a press conference visiting German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and stressed that the phase of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, could begin as soon as the end of the month.

Hamas will now hand over the remains of Ran Gvili, a 24-year-old policeman who was killed in Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, a controversial attack. His body was taken to Gaza.

The second phase of the cessation also includes the deployment of international forces to protect Gaza and create an interim Palestinian government to work on daily affairs under the supervision of a board of states led by US President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu says the second phase will be a challenge

Netanyahu said that few people believe that the first phase of elimination can be achieved, and that the second phase is just difficult.

“As I said to the Chancellor, there is a third phase, and that is to remove Gaza, something that people also believe could not be done in Gama,” he said.

The return of Gvili’s bodies — and Israel’s return of 15 Palestinian bodies in exchange — could fill Trump’s first phase.

Germany says support for Israel has not changed

Merz said that Germany, one of Israel’s closest allies, is helping to initiate the second phase by sending officials and diplomats to the military-military communication center in southern Israel, and by sending humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The Chancellor also said that Germany still believes that a two-zone solution is the best way but that “the German Government remains of the opinion that the recognition of the Palestinian situation can only come at the end of such a process, not at the beginning of such a process, not at the beginning of such a process, not at the beginning of such a process, not at the beginning of such a process, not at the beginning of such a process, not at the beginning.”

The draft Gaza plan leaves the door open to Palestinian independence. Netanyahu has long speculated that creating a Palestinian state would reward Hamas and ultimately lead to a larger Hamas-run state on Israel’s borders.
