Representing DigiPlus on the panel “Innovations in Responsible Gaming and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)” was Erick Su, Head of ArenaPlus, the company’s flagship sports arena. The discussion brought together industry leaders to explore how operators and regulators can balance accessibility, innovation, and player protection in an increasingly digital gaming environment.
During the interview, Mr. Su noted that the ever-present nature of digital platforms requires that responsible gaming measures be built directly into the platform’s design and operation. This places a huge burden on digital operators to embed early protection and systematic processes that support healthy gaming.
An effective way to introduce a player to responsible gaming
DigiPlus has unveiled a four-step responsible gaming framework that is continuously being developed, with new innovations set for widespread use across all of its platforms from 2026. The framework includes education, prevention, intervention, and treatment support.
Education starts on board, where DigiPlus provides information on the platform’s responsible gaming features and implements Know-Your-Customer (KYC) procedures to help prevent access by children or restricted people.
Using aggregated, consent-based customer data and analytics, the platform reviews common play patterns to identify early signs of risk and recommend preventative measures to help players stay in control.
If and when potential risks are identified, players are then encouraged to use built-in platform tools such as betting and deposit limits, session length settings, and other responsible gaming options. DigiPlus customer support is available 24/7 to assist users in setting up and activating these tools.
For players who need more help, DigiPlus provides guidance on self-exclusion and, when approved, helps organize the process through appropriate regulatory channels. These efforts are in line with the company’s broader CSR programs and collaboration with external organizations that provide expert assistance and guidance.
“Regulatory requirements are minimal. In order to promote sustainable gaming, operators need to be proactive in using technology to introduce responsible gaming practices to players early on,” said Mr. Su.
The panel was moderated by Ryan Hong-Wai Ho, Lecturer and Program Coordinator (MBA) at the Center for Sports and Tourism Studies, Macao Polytechnic University. The followers of Ma. Vina Claudette Oca of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), and Nerie Aquino, Director of Gaming Compliance at the Philippine integrated resort operator, also shared ideas on regulatory developments, player protection, and collaboration across the gaming space.
