Wrestling legend William Regal has urged his competitors in the ring to learn and develop safe practices amid a series of scary-looking bumps.

Regal posted a lengthy message on social media, along with an X-ray showing his broken bones from being hit by hard bumps while in the ring. He has played for World Championship Wrestling (WCW), WWE and was a manager in All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

“I live here but I was warned about something today that has scared me. I don’t read any comments so don’t waste your time trying to argue or justify your very wrong views on this. I broke my neck twice, (92/93) in a ring and a car crash in ’97 and stupidly I didn’t tell anyone. And I was taught well how to write on the top of the X bridge. 99.9% of people don’t know or I will learn again.

“I went on somehow but I knew all the tricks that people don’t read now and watch the film and just copy. After Misawa San went through his neck problems, I thought it would stop this nonsense but it gets worse and whenever I talk to people about what they do ‘it’s okay it doesn’t hurt….’ Believe me it will be. I have people close to me now, Bryan (Danielson) is one, who suffers every day like me in his neck. It’s sad and daily sleep and all other aspects of your life are more difficult. Although people use this strong word about me you will never hear me say that as I am not and do not think that I am or ever was.”

Two of the most frightening hits this year happened in the last two months.

On Saturday night at AEW’s Full Gear, Jon Moxley defeated Kyle Fletcher on the top rope. Fletcher fell on his head.

During WWE’s Survivor Series: WarGames, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes teamed up to deliver the Doomsday Device to Bron Breaker. As Punk clotheslines the Breaker, the wrestler flips backwards and lands on his head.

On the surface, both Fletcher and Brecker seem right.

“The money and whatever stupid fame it’s supposed to be isn’t worth the pain or the praise twice a night you get from these mindless actions they throw at your head,” Regal continued. “Most fans don’t know the difference between a vertical suplex and a brainbuster and that’s a worse move than most I see right now.

“I’m 57 years old and I’m not important every day but fame has never been my thing so most of you who do these BUJINGA things won’t listen to me but I hope a few will listen to me. Stop now if you want a decent life after wrestling because that part of your life will be over before you know it and wrestling done well is hard enough but breaking your neck or dying is not something hard or cool to think about you shouldn’t think about.”
