Outgoing Mayor of New York City Eric Adams revealed that the Justice Department of the Biden administration is conducting “law enforcement” against the former president’s political opponents, including him for corruption allegations and President Donald Trump for issues such as the mishandling of classified documents.
“I think what we’ve seen under President Biden’s Justice Department, the American people don’t have to live through that again,” Adams said Monday during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Story.”
“You saw Americans every day who fought for the education of their children being put on the watch list, I think you saw what happened with Charlie Kirk, when you saw the raid on the home of President Trump. The debates should have happened … I think you see a clear sign that the Department of Justice under the previous administration used the law to go after those who disagreed with them,” he added.

Asked if he felt angry about the DOJ’s alleged firings before he was targeted, Adams said “personal experience allows us to see firsthand the abuse.”
“I’ve spent my entire life, not just as a police officer, but as a state senator and state president fighting injustice,” Adams said. “There is a real history, a rich history, of me standing up and fighting what the criminal justice system should not be. Yes, that anger was there long before I was a victim, but what I saw happen as mayor is really sad, and we saw what happened to President Trump’s family.”

“If you go back and look at my life story about criminal justice reform and not abuse, it goes back to being a young man who was abused by law enforcement,” he continued. “So I’ve always been a clear voice, and it’s been personalizing what I’ve been fighting for for years because I’ve seen the law firsthand.”
Adams was indicted in September 2024 on corruption charges related to bribery, fraud and accepting illegal foreign campaign contributions from Turkish officials and businessmen. He denied all charges.

The mayor has emphasized that the case is politically motivated by his criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of illegal immigration, but prosecutors in the Southern District of New York said in court that the investigation began in September 2021, before Adams publicly criticized the government’s immigration policies or won the mayoral election.
The charges were dropped earlier this year at the request of the Trump administration.
Adams is expected to step down at the start of the new year, when Mayor Zohran Mamdani will be sworn in.
