There’s So Much New Lego to Buy in January

The new year brings a lot of traditions, but one of the biggest threats to our wallets every year is that, after months of peace and quiet, Lego suddenly decides to release. tons of new sets every January 1. There are more than 150 new sets are hitting the shelves today, so here’s our roundup of the biggest and best.
January is one of Lego’s most important release months, so it’s no surprise that we’re getting releases from almost every line the brickmaker puts out, from products like star Wars and Marvel in basic things like the lines of Architecture, Ideas, and Icons. There are a lot of heavy hitters all over the place, but of course, one big stand out is Lego marking your end Stranger Things yesterday with its fancy new set based on the Creel area—the biggest set among the many big sets arriving today. Lego Sonic the Hedgehog Sets
Lego is a bit late Crossworlds train together with its latest Sonic sets (or just chasing its own Mario Kart set?), as Silver, Knuckles, and the main man all hit the road.
Lego Minecraft Sets
MinecraftThis month’s offerings include sets large and small, as well as a few fun non-traditional structures, such as a model featuring a pixelated fox and another small diorama that replicates many of the game’s biome areas.
Lego Architecture Paris City of Love

The Architecture line gets a little wiser with its latest diorama, a wall art rendering of the Parisian skyline, which includes notable landmarks like Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, and focuses on the Eiffel Tower at its core. ($80, available here)
Lego Stranger Things Sets
After many years, Stranger Things Lego is back in style during the show’s final episode. Not only is there a fancy Creel House, full of fun features and minifigures inspired by the final season of the show, but if you’re not in the mood for a set with such prices, there’s also a new set of BrickHeadz figurines inspired by the final episodes.

After many quiet months, the Marvel line is back in full swing this month with something touching every corner of the Marvel multiverse, from multiple Spidey sets to movie stars and a brand new Iron Man.

Lego star Wars Sets
Finally we reached the year with star Wars theatrical release on the way for the first time almost Seven years, so it’s no surprise that the Mandoverse is firmly focused on this new wave—but alongside Grogu, there’s fodder from the prequels and sequels to go along with it, including a new BB-8 being built to celebrate 10 years since he debuted. The Force Awakens.
Lego Art Japanese Cherry Blossom Landscape

The latest Lego Art set takes a small step away from replicating a masterpiece from history with this authentic piece inspired by a Japanese spring, with a beautiful view of Mount Fuji and a small temple with a 3D waterfall emerging from the frame. ($140, available here)
Lego Disney Sets
The latest theme for Disney princess sets is not mini dolls, but minis… minis: tiny brick-built chibi figures that give off a more vinyl toy-like feel than the BrickHeadz/Funko comparisons. But outside of the world of princesses, there are a few that stand out, like the new Olaf that is building.
Lego Speed Champions Sets
It’s not often that Speed Champions enters a licensed brand collaboration, but this month’s wave has not one, but two: for kids, there’s a limited edition champion Cars‘ Lightning McQueen, while children at heart, there is the latest Lego spin of DeLorean from Back to the Future.

Lego’s latest wave of blind-box minifigures is perhaps controversial for anyone who dreads the representation of animals shown as part of previous waves… because this everything about them.
