Real Madrid player ratings: Vinicius and Mbappe are unstoppable

Real Madrid played well by beating AS Monaco 6-1 in the Champions League, which is the result and a good performance to start the Alvaro Arbeloa era.

Thibaut Courtois – 5

He made two or three saves in the first half, but shared the blame with Dani Ceballos for AS Monaco’s only goal, with an odd pass at high speed into his own box.

Fede Valverde – 8

It’s true that Monaco went down a few times with their own team in the first half, but Valverde’s quick thinking put him in the perfect position to open up Kylian Mbappe, and he did the same for Jude Bellingham in the second half. The characteristic of playing when he was pressed by Monaco in the second half, he played well up front.

Raul Asencio – 5

Finding himself chasing Folarin Balogun and Aleksandr Golovin in the first half, Real Madrid looked to be rocking back. Withdrawn in part.

Dean Huijsen – 7

Something like his best in the second half. He came on smartly to help set up Franco Mastantuono’s goal, after a shaky first half. It grew as the game progressed.

Eduardo Camavinga – 8

Magnes Akliouche had little joy on his side, and he could hardly have had this measure of his genius in preparing Real Madrid’s second. His quick feet opened it up, leading to the decisive goal. The Frenchman was talented in another way.

Jude Bellingham – 7

Perhaps the least visible of their attacking talents, Bellingham was task-like in midfield for most of the game. As things opened up, he began to find more joy and space, as evidenced by his well-taken goal to seal the win.

Aurelien Tchouameni – 6

He struggled to put out the fire in the first half, as his teammates looked to press hard. There is little to do in the second half as a defender.

Arda Guler – 7

Hit and miss in his 77 minutes on the field. He saw a few attacks drop to his feet in the first half, but played in Vinicius’ first-time wonder ball for the second goal. He also saw Monaco’s midfielders run at him several times in the first half. The more contact with the ball, the better in the second half.

Franco Mastantuono – 7.5

A strong performance from Mastantuono in his second start for Arbeloa. He found Valverde inside in the opener, and produced a sharp finish to score in the second half. Aggressive off the ball, quick and direct with it, his best performance since his sports hernia injury.

Kylian Mbappe – 8

Opened the scoring with a superb finish, then easily scored a second before 30′. He came in and out of the game in the second half, but had good times getting into the ball from deep.

Vinicius Junior – 9

The best player on the field. A hat-trick of assists if we count our goal, and his strike was a thunderbolt. He got inside well, coordinated the attack and positioned himself well on the counters, Monaco bleeding heavily on the right. Decisive.ç

Changed:

Dani Ceballos – 7

He really stepped up the Real Madrid press in the second half, and was involved in two goals, winning the ball back to back. Unfortunately, he was caught off guard for attempting to slide the ball past Jordan Teze inside his own box, which resulted in a goal.

Dani Carvajal – 6.5

There is little to report for Carvajal, who came with the game over.

Fran Garcia – 6.5

We had one good move forward, but otherwise unremarkable.

Dani Meso – 6.5

He stepped up on his debut, played seven minutes and couldn’t have wished for a better backline.
