Immigration and Customs Enforcement is clearly and technically an immigration enforcement agency. But when you look at what’s happening in Minnesota and across the country, this doesn’t look like immigration enforcement. “Can I go check the pulse?” “This is school.” Immigration enforcement is an administrative matter. So why do we have these activists on the streets taking children and using them as bait to find their parents? That’s what happened in Columbia Heights, Minn., when a 5-year-old preschooler, Liam Conejo Ramos, and his father were taken to a prison in Texas. They are legal immigrants. They have a valid asylum claim, but that is not subject to immigration and Customs enforcement. Why, in fact, is the status of the people in question irrelevant to ICE agents, and why is the architect of these policies, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, so concerned about the number of removals? “There are at least 3,000 ICE arrests every day.” If you think, as I think many Americans thought, when they voted for Trump in 2024, that immigration law means removing people who have committed some kind of criminal offense, you will never reach 3,000 people a day. “I am an American citizen.” “I was born and raised here.” The only way you’re going to reach 3,000 people a day is to get people out of their communities. “We will come back and do it for your whole family.” “These children, what is your problem?” “Where’s your warrant?” If you are taking people who are here legally, or who have valid applications to be here. When you destroy communities, you’re trying to get rid of anyone who looks bad in your eyes. “You were born here?” We know that ICE uses people’s race, nationality, and language to determine whether they will be arrested. This is in part due to Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s opinion, which allowed this type of behavior. “The color of my skin is the reason why I was beaten that day.” “The CBP officers yelled at me, saying: Take him. He’s from Mexico.” Describing it as an acceptable cost of immigration enforcement. Thank you, Justice Kavanaugh. in any case, this obsession with numbers, and imprisoning as many people as possible, makes communities unsafe, both practically. You don’t feel safe when there are armed, masked men roaming the streets looking for people to arrest. And it needs to focus on criminals who may need to be removed from the country. The answer to all of this is that what ICE is doing, what the administration is doing, is not immigration enforcement. It has a lot in common with ethnic cleansing, and trying to change the racial and ethnic mix of the entire country. There are mass deportation campaigns indiscriminately targeting anyone the authorities believe is not their own, and their belief that these people are not local depends on the racial idea of what an American is. “We only take people [EXPLETIVE] countries.” “We are being attacked from within.” “I mean we are taking Somalis. Why can’t we have other people from Norway, Sweden? Just a few.” And if that doesn’t awaken you to what’s really happening here, imagine that this is happening in another country and somewhere other than the United States. Imagine seeing political leaders in another nation speaking like our president, speaking like Stephen Miller, sending masked soldiers into the streets to go door to door looking for different races and ethnicities. Would you call it ethnic cleansing? I think you might. We must protect that culture and rediscover the spirit that lifted the West from the depths of the Dark Ages. Why do they hire people with official positions? People who are natural born citizens, people who are natural born citizens, and they treat them like they might be deported to where? I don’t know, because these are, again, citizens and legal citizens. And here, you don’t need to take my word for it. Just listen to the president of the United States, who describes any number of different groups of immigrants as not being able to actually be Americans, Dirty, dirty. It’s disgusting. It is full of crime. Do we have people from Somalia? Perfect. Please raise your hand. These are low IQ people. How did they get into Minnesota and steal all that money?
