The surgeon accused of murder is suspected to have been hiding in his ex-wife’s house for the past few weeks

A newly unsealed affidavit alleges a surgeon accused of killing his ex-wife and her dentist husband hid in the victims’ home weeks before they were shot.

In accordance with WBNS-TV, citing a newly released affidavit, said Michael McKee, Monique Tepe’s ex-husband, was seen outside or near the Columbus, Ohio home she shared with her husband, Dr. Spencer Tepe, in Dis. 6, weeks before the couple was killed on Dec. 30.

According to the outlet, on December 6, Monique and Spencer were at the Big Ten Championship game in Indiana with friends when Monique returned to her hotel during the second half of the game.

According to the affidavit, McKee was seen on video entering the Tepes property on N. 4th Street on Dec. 6 2025, and left a few hours later while the couple was away.

According to the affidavit, friends and family told detectives that Monique described McKee as abusive during and after their marriage. Another witness detailed the alleged strangulation and non-consensual sex.

These documents are said to say that McKee is accused of threatening Monique’s life, telling her that he could “kill her at any time” and swearing that he would follow her by buying a house near hers, saying that “she will always be his wife.”

Asked why Monique left the show, Spencer said she was upset “about something involving her ex-husband and was going back to the hotel,” according to the affidavit.

Investigators suspect the killings were random, saying there were no signs of forced entry or robbery.

We know this is her ex-husband, so it’s related to domestic violence. And, as the case goes on, as the cases go on, we’ll probably get more answers. But, right now, we don’t have an answer about the motive,” Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant previously told Fox News Digital.

McKee pleaded not guilty to four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated burglary and is being held without bond at the James A. Karnes Corrections Center in Franklin County.

Monique and McKee were married for seven months after their wedding on August 22, 2015, before splitting, court records show. McKee was finishing his residency at the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic when Monique filed for divorcewriting that the two were “not compatible.”

Monique and Spencer’s two children were found safe at home after the incident. Rob Misleh, Spencer’s brother-in-law, said People the couple’s one-year-old child may have been in bed when the incident happened.
