‘Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Success Already Influences HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoff

Since then Game of Thrones came to a controversial conclusion, HBO had big plans, both on scale and scale, for what it wanted to get out of telling more stories in Westeros and beyond. But for all that grandiose dreaming, it turns out that the quiet success of one of its deliberately small shows could turn all that on its head.
That show, of course, goes on Knight of the Seven Kingdomswhich, despite its big hero in the form of Ser Duncan the Tall, captivated audiences with its bright, down-to-earth take Game of Thrones-a story about ordinary people who pass under and away from the big politics of the empire, there are big battles with giants, mythical monsters. However, it is not only the audience that is attracted. Apparently HBO head Casey Bloys is too.
“If you think about novels, a person who uses two hands. Two unlikely friends and heroes who roam Westeros. From its beginning, from the beginning, it’s not warring families, it’s not dragons, it’s not big battles. So the art made sense first, and then the production,” Bloys recently told Deadline of the project, the scope is a small source of the game.
But according to Bloys, Knights‘ success does not always happen suddenly Game of Thrones the upcoming spinoff will be a miniseries that avoids major events in Westeros’ past or future—plus the world of the Seven Kingdoms and the Outback is big enough to handle series ideas of various sizes, so that shows that Knight of the Seven Kingdoms again The House of the Beast they can get along. Bloys also noted that smaller-scale ideas can also allow shows to have tighter production flexibility, suggesting series like Knight would be an annual show, rather than large gaps between seasons (KnightThe second season will air next year, between 2026 and 2028 to be released The House of the Beastseason three and four).
“I am not looking to change the way we do television at all, our business has always been a portfolio, which means you can have programs like these. The Last of Us or Drago’s Housesn, and you can have small scale shows like One Person Together or Chairman’s Companyadding things that can come back every year, like Pitt,” continues Bloys, “or adding things where art lends itself, in between Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, I don’t want to say simple production, but something that allows you, on a small scale, to produce and return every year.”
With new ones Game of Thrones property scheduled at least until 2028, it will be interesting to see how that lesson is applied to the other thousands of spinoff projects still in the works for this franchise. Although Bloys did not comment on additional plans, Deadline noted that there are many plans currently being planned, including the recently resurrected one. Thrones the next episode focusing on Jon Snow and Arya Stark, an animated project The Nine Journeys based on the health of The House of the BeastCorlys Velaryon, the Sea Serpent (with cartoon legend Genndy Tartakovsky attached), a prequel to the Nymeria-centric tale 10,000 Shipsand a series based on Aegon Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros.
Time will tell which of those can find Knight of the Seven Kingdoms treatment—or get to the screen at all. But at least it’s the future Game of Thrones on the small screen it looks a little more vibrant thanks to Dunk and Egg… much to their creator’s delight, we think.
