Epstein files show emails between LA28 Olympics chief Ghislaine Maxwell

The latest trove of investigative files on Jeffrey Epstein released Friday includes personal emails exchanged 23 years ago between Casey Wasserman, chairman of the LA28 Olympics organizing committee, and convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former romantic partner.

In emails sent in March and April 2003, Wasserman – who was married at the time – wrote about wanting to see Maxwell in skin tights, offering to give him a massage that “could drive a man wild,” and the two discussed how much they missed each other, according to files released and posted online by the US Department of Justice.

Representatives for Wasserman did not immediately respond to The Times’ request for comment on Friday.

In an e-mail sent on March 14, 2003, Maxwell describes a “tight leather flight suit” she had been wearing recently and said she thought about Wasserman at inappropriate times. He replied, “I think about you all the time… So what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather dress?”

He then promised her, “Casey — I’ll be back in NY this afternoon. I’ll be wearing a skin-tight flying suit…”

The exchange, which is part of documents about Epstein released Friday, reveals that Wasserman was once friends with Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 of five counts related to sex trafficking and child abuse in association with Epstein.

Other documents show that Wasserman and his then-wife flew on Epstein’s private jet in September 2002 along with Maxwell, Epstein, former President Clinton, actor Kevin Spacey and several others as part of a 10-day trip to research HIV problems in Africa. (That trip was covered in a 2003 Vanity Fair story).

During his trial, federal prosecutors found that Maxwell and Epstein — who died by suicide while in federal custody in 2019 — were involved in a sex-trafficking scheme involving children from the late 1990s to the early 2000s.

In an April 2, 2003, email to Wasserman, Maxwell promises to “continue the idea of a massage in your bed … and then again in the morning … not sure if or when we’ll stop.”

Later that day you write, “Umm – all that rubbing – are you sure you can take it? The thought frankly leaves me breathless. There are a few places that apparently drive a man – I think I can practice them on you and let me know if they work or not?”

A few days later, Maxwell tells Wasserman that “JE” says he should take a week off to Los Angeles and look at properties to rent in Malibu that summer and promises to bring Wasserman something to Paris.

Wasserman replied, “I think choosing a week to be in LA is a really good idea … All I want in Paris is you”

The two continued to exchange on April 6, with Maxwell offering to bring her food from London such as KitKats, cheddar and baked beans to which she said, “Of all my wishes, that combination is at the bottom of the list … xoxo”

She asks him what combination I can make for him and he says “You, me, not much else…”

Wasserman then explains the concept of June darkness, California’s famous seasonal fog, and Maxwell asks if it can be foggy enough “so that you can float naked on the beach and no one can see you unless you’re close?”

He replies, “or something like that…”

Wasserman, a UCLA alumnus, is the grandson of Hollywood mogul Lew Wasserman. He built his own fortune through his marketing and talent agency Wasserman, representing more than 30 No. 1 in major sports leagues including MLB, NFL, NBA and WNBA. In 2023, the agency acquired Brillstein Entertainment Partners, the executive production company that represents stars like Adam Sandler and Brad Pitt and presents hit shows including “The Sopranos.”

Wasserman was hired by former Mayor Eric Garcetti in 2017 to help Los Angeles win its bid to host the Olympics. While Garcetti ends his mayoral term and fades from the Olympic spotlight, Wasserman remains the face of the city’s campaign to host a successful Games in 2028. He has led every major Olympic event presented to the IOC and has met several times with President Trump to ensure his support.

Wasserman is expected to join the LA28 team in Italy for the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina, the last Games before LA.

Epstein, 66, was once a well-connected financial consultant who dealt with many famous politicians and celebrities, including Trump and Clinton. He was arrested again taken into state custody in July 2019 and was charged with child sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit child sex trafficking.

The lawsuit alleges that, between 2002 and 2005, Epstein sexually exploited and abused dozens of teenage girls at his homes in Manhattan, N.Y., and Palm Beach, Fla., and elsewhere, by luring them into having sex with him in exchange for money. He also alleged that Epstein paid several of his victims to hire other teenage girls to perform similar sexual acts.

The latest documents were disclosed under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was created after months of public and political pressure and requires the government to open its files on the late financier and Maxwell. Deputy Atty. Gen. Todd Blanche said the Justice Department is releasing more than 3 million pages of documents in the latest disclosure, as well as more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 photos.

Times staff writer Jenny Jarvie and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
