A second, “very important” deadline mentioned in Guthrie’s alleged ransom note expires Monday, TMZ founder Harvey Levin told Fox News on Thursday.
In an interview with “Hannity,” Levin shared new details about the alleged ransom note received by the company, which he said appears to have come from the kidnappers of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie.
“When I said there are two set dates, yes – something changes the need, and that’s the one that’s already passed, and the one on Monday is very important,” Levin said.
The police said that the 84-year-old woman was taken out of her house because she didn’t want to have her heart connected to her since she was last seen on Jan 31.

A ransom note was sent to TMZ, and Levin said he has no proof that the letter is legitimate, noting that certain details lend credibility.
“We are not sure if this was actually written by someone with Nancy,” he explained. “But I will say, the book starts with you being safe, but scared, and they go on to say you know exactly what the need is.”
“We knew he was wearing an Apple watch, there are pictures of him with Savannah wearing that watch,” he said. “They said where the clock was, the placement of the clock in the house – and that’s not what was there.”
The ransom note contained two deadlines, according to the FBI, one that expired on Thursday and a second deadline that was set to expire on Monday.

TMZ did not disclose the specific threat the rescuer made if the deadline passed, and Levin realized the note would be untraceable.
“To our knowledge, it is impossible to trace the origin of this email,” Levin said.
The TMZ founder revealed that Nancy Guthrie’s captor may be in Arizona, near where she was taken.
“I believe this is a person from the greater Tucson area — not Tucson, which could be in New Mexico now,” Levin said. “But they’re familiar with Tucson.”
“I think one of the reasons, too, is that they sent the same email to one of the local stations in Tucson,” he added.

Levin also accused authorities of growing desperate, as the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance entered its sixth day, especially since the ransom note said this would be the only communication they sent.
“They said this would be the end of their communication,” he told Fox News. “And they’re done communicating, negotiating, here’s the deal and that’s it. And as the clock ticks down, I think that’s one of the reasons the FBI and other authorities have gotten discouraged here.”

The composition of the ransom note suggests it is not a forgery, Levin noted.
“This is not a book thrown together in a few minutes,” he said. “It’s a clear, well-organized, layered book that lays things out. This is not AI.”
“If an English teacher was looking at structure and grammar and everything else, I think they wouldn’t have notes,” Levin added. “So this is somebody – it’s not a crazy person writing this. I mean, they might be crazy, but they have the power to make demands, say what they want, say what they don’t want, and it’s great.”
