Several Democratic lawmakers welcomed State of the Union guests who are being watched by the Department of Homeland Security, including suspected illegal immigrants, DREAMers and citizens arrested on suspicion of interfering with federal immigration law.
A Fox News reporter discovered the list when he questioned the organization about a tweet released earlier Tuesday saying some Democrats “plan to bring illegal aliens as guests to the Union.”
“Once again, they are putting illegal aliens above the safety of American citizens. Just yesterday our officials arrested child abusers, rapists, and violent criminals in our communities. President Trump and Secretary Noem have made it abundantly clear: if you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you, we will arrest you, and you will never come back,” the organization said in its tweet.
Fox News Digital’s review of the list found visitors with a variety of backgrounds and backgrounds.

“ICE has issued a warrant for the arrest of an illegal alien with a final decision of removal in the Park Avenue area of Minneapolis. ICE officers arrested four illegal immigrants,” said a DHS spokesperson.
“When the police were doing their duty to enforce the law, a large crowd surrounded them and started obstructing the enforcement of the law – organized crime. One of the officers ignored the policeman’s numerous orders to move his car from the scene, and he was arrested for obstruction,” said the police spokesperson.
DHS also disputed claims from outlets like the CBC that reported Rahman was denied medical treatment after being pulled from his car and arrested.

Another guest of Omar’s, Mary Granlund, is the chairwoman of the local school board that has taken action since the arrest of a five-year-old at Columbia Heights School, according to a statement from Omar’s office.
Granlund works with a group of faculty members who “make daily rounds, work to connect detained children with families with legal aid, and coordinate food deliveries to families who are too afraid to leave their homes,” Omar’s office said.
A DHS spokesperson said ICE does not go into schools and instead targets child abusers to protect those children themselves.
Guest of Rep. Jesus Garcia is Marimar Martinez, who DHS says was part of an “ambush” against federal officials in October, and the agency called a “domestic terrorist.”
Martinez, who was reportedly armed and “has a history of doxxing federal agents,” “took defensive fire” from CBP and was later placed in FBI custody after being hospitalized.
When asked about the criticism, Garcia told Fox News Digital: “I invited Marimar Martinez to be my guest at the State of the Union because her government almost killed her and now they are covering it up by impeaching her and failing to hold Charles Exum and other agents accountable.”

“This is their playbook,” added the Chicago legislator. “I’m proud to have Marimar as my guest – her courage stands in stark contrast to the cowardice and brutality of DHS and the rest of this lawless administration.”
In an earlier statement, Garcia said a Border Patrol agent “brutally shot Marimar and bragged about it and the Trump administration mistakenly called him a ‘domestic terrorist’.”
Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., the father of the DREAM Act, invited Tereza Lee — a pianist and daughter of Korean immigrants who Durbin says was the inspiration behind the law — to each rally since 2001. The latest version was introduced in 2025 and is sponsored by Mur-Alaska Sen.
In a statement on Monday, Durbin announced Lee’s invitation, praising her “courage to share her story” and adding that “President Donald Trump’s anger toward immigrants is evident in his second term.”
DHS noted that the DREAM Act “will allow non-citizens without legal status who were brought to the US as children and meet certain education, military service or work requirements – to obtain legal permanent residency.”

Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., is inviting Marcelo Gomes da Silva, a man who DHS said was arrested in May 2024 while driving his father’s car — who was wanted by authorities.
Marcelo’s student visa has expired, and Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News that “the facts [of his case] they haven’t changed.”
“[He] you are still an illegal alien and subject to removal proceedings. The Trump administration is committed to restoring law and order to our immigration system and will continue to fight for the arrest, detention and removal of unauthorized aliens.”
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, DN.Y., is holding a Venezuelan immigrant whose son was arrested during an immigration hearing in May 2025 and is now in Pennsylvania.
“Dylan Josue Lopez Contreras is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who entered the US illegally more than a year ago. Under the Biden administration, he was met at the border and released,” said a DHS spokesperson.
NOEM STRIKES TO BLOCK DHS FUNDING BILL SINGES TSA, FEMA, COAST GUARD: ‘I HOPE THEY WILL REPENT FROM THEIR SCIENCES’
“On May 21, 2025, Contreras was arrested and placed in expedited removal proceedings. Most aliens who have entered the United States illegally within the past two years are eligible for expedited removal. [Joe] Biden ignored this legal reality and chose to let millions of illegal immigrants, including violent criminals, into the country with a notice to appear before an immigration judge. “
“ICE is now following the law and subjecting these illegal immigrants to immediate removal, as they always should.”
Rep. Mike Levin, D-Calif., is representing Stephanie Quintino, whose parents Gladys and Nelson Gonzalez have been deported to Colombia, according to the agency.
