The first CFP rankings released with Ohio State, Indiana leading the bracket

College football’s starting positions have been released, and dreaded pensions are packing up.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked first as ESPN revealed Tuesday night’s 12-team bracket. The 2024 winners, who won not a dame in the membership match earlier this year, were Stellar with an 8-0 start to no one’s surprise.

But perhaps one of the best news this season comes from the No. 2 team in the rankings – the Indiana Hoosiers. Curt Ciggtti’s coaching team was the first time of the year, and they led the top ten with a 9-0 record after the performance of Carterback Fernando Mendoza.

Rounding out the top seeds, all of whom will receive a bye in the first round of the CFP, there are none. 3 Texas A & M and 4 Alabama.

The SEC is well represented in these mock rankings, as Georgia comes in at 5, followed by Lane Kiffin’s Mit Miss Revols at 6.

Rounding out the top 10 are BYU, the No. 7 team that leads the Big 12 with an overall record of 8-0, Texas Tech, Oregon and the Irish at No. 10.

Notre Dame may have lost its first game of the season, but the Irish have ripped off a six-game winning streak as a big team. Their first loss came against the aggies and 18 miami in their favor.

Speaking of the Hurricanes, they have the same number of losses as the Battle Irish, but their most recent loss to SMU left them on the edge.

To the right of CUSP is Archning and the Texas Longhorns at No. 11, especially given the team’s win over No. 16 Vanderbilt, while not long ago.

Given that each Power Convention needs a representative, Virginia – Leaders in the ACC – came in 14th. With all of the top 25 teams coming from a strong conference the top team from the top five.

However, this isn’t the same method as previous college football seasons, as the committee is using a straight scoring model this time around. The top four teams in the final standings, regardless of which conference they play in, will receive the first bye.

By current standards, Memphis would face Georgia, Virginia would play Ole Miss, Notre Dame would travel to BYU, and Oregon could take on Texas Tech.

Of course, this is just the beginning of many positions to come. The bracket will be finalized on December 7, the day after the conference playoffs.
