Billy Bob Thornton calls celebrities who bring politics to the shows.
During an interview that recently appeared in the “Joe Rogan experience,” the 70-year-old actor shared that he “doesn’t care about awards” and that he has a lot of them “and he gets most of them” when the awards were truly kind. “
“I got a couple recently,” he said. “But these days I just look at it like, oh, okay, we’re going to go here and, you know, have some dry chicken and dry green beans, you know, and we’re going to listen to people get up there and be humbled by how terrible they are.”
He explained that when someone receives an award and is “really honored by it,” he thinks they should take their time on stage to “praise the people who gave it to you,” rather than bring awareness to the cause.

He said, “There’s a time and place for that,” and during shows, “you just have to stick with what is.”
“Don’t get up there and talk about saving the bad guys in Wisconsin or something, you know what I’m saying?” he said. “And people were arguing and saying, ‘Yes, no, because I have a voice and because everyone knows.'”
“What, how about this? If you have a billion dollars, and you want to save two, F – save them,” he added. “I mean, you’ve got a lot of money to save two, trust me. That’s not, that’s not the time to cut into your budget.”
The host, Joe Rogan, agreed, adding, he’s like “he’s saying how special he is because he’s so concerned about the people in Sudan or whatever, and it’s their way” to know he’s an amazing person. “

Thornton got his big break in Hollywood in the 1996 movie, “Sling Blade,” which was written and won an award.

Looking back on his career, Therton told FOX News Digital in November 2024, he’s glad he found success in his acting career at an older age, adding “if I was going to win an Academy Award when I was 21, who knows what I would have done with it?”

“I think if it had happened when I was 18 or 21, who knows I might be here now because I was attractive in those days,” she said.

“And yes, I’m excited about this because I grew up in the music business, so I was used to being in the entertainment business, but not to that extent,” he continued. “And I think growing up as an artist helped me to prepare some of it because we can be local heroes, sometimes as artists or this region. But this was a big explosion.”
