Stronger national cybersecution agenda

Public, private structures align to develop cybersecurity policies and practices in the second installment of the BusinessworWorld Insights Cybersecuring Series

Along with the rise of e-commerce, digitalization, and communication, there is the emergence of new threats and challenges. Recent reports suggest that the Philippines is ‘attractive’ to global threat actors due to its exposure to digital payments and heavy media consumption. In response to these growing vulnerabilities, key stakeholders from the public and private sectors have worked to strengthen the country’s digital defenses through dialogue and cooperation.

Taking the lead in advancing the national conversation on cybersecurity, the businessman made the second installment of his Cyberworld Insissingy Insissions CyberShumming Series on Oct. 22 in Dusti Thani Manila.

Themed “Frontlines of the Philippine Cybersecurity Policy”, the Forum’s forum tackled policy gaps, regulatory challenges, and the need to collaborate with the community that represents the community around the country’s cyberspace.

For Mr. Jackson, strengthening cybersecurity in the Philippines requires ensuring that these frameworks are effectively implemented at all levels. He realized that while the country’s strategies are sound, there is still a gap between planning and execution, especially among front-line employees.

“To be honest, there are enough laws, but some laws are already out of date. Therefore, one thing we support is the renewal of some laws,” he said.
