Sorry Sony fans, the PS6 could be more PC than console, too

There have been more than a few strong hints that the Next-Gen Xbox will be a PC with the Big Xbox logo stamped on its chassis. As if gaming systems can look like that Load Architect, Mark Cerny, rightly says that Sony Hardware – let’s just call it PS6 now it will be from the old clay of proprietary, standard chipsets. The end result will be an open console that may leave any thoughts of the “Excuresis” program by the wayside.
Cernyni has already successfully confirmed that there is new PlayStation Hardware in the works. The next Gen Console efforts will coincide with “Project Amethyst,” the first step alongside ChipMaker AMD to develop new and unified AI technologies “across various devices.” Sony is working on getting the full fidelityfx super resolution 4 suite on its next hardware. With that will come a complete overhaul of the console’s guts.
“Developers can create their technology with the understanding that it will work across multiple platforms such as desktops, laptops, consoles, etc. In a recent fire interview with AMD’s general manager of computing and graphics, Jack Huynh, both the leadership of AMD and PlayStation said that the next device has the ability and performance of the power to read again.
The real machine learning technology Cerny talks about will. Aside from “next-Gen development and technology enhancements,” most of what’s being said won’t be seen by most players. The System GPU can use machine learning of Pixel Shaders with “Neural Texture Compression” to reduce Vram usage. Some of these may be more than full chatbots built for your console experience. Sony has already shown early testing with this tech. To say that the public was troubled by those tests would be an understatement. If my time with Xbox’s Copilot The same Copilot Cocilot feature says anything about large language models (LLMS) in games, it’s that the In-Game AI won’t be very good and it won’t be very interesting.
PlayStation wants to distribute all games for PCs
Either way, AMD is working with both Microsoft and Sony on their next acquisition. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are functionally equivalent. Both houses RDNA 2 GPU 2 GPUS, although they have slight differences in clock speed and compute units (AMD’s Core clusters). The Next-Gen Xbox could have a much bigger SOC, or system on a chip, than what’s coming to the PlayStation 6 or the PlayStation HandSald. That either means it’s more powerful, or it’s more expensive.
Of course, whatever comes next will look like a playstation (or whether the PS6 will have PS6 Whale Fines is another matter), but under the hood will be the kind of technology that gets PCs AMUH. Based on Cerny’s comments, this seems like an attempt to make developing PC and PlayStation at the same time easier. Sony’s exclusive PlayStation titles have sold well on PC, so that they now account for almost a third of the Sony group’s game revenue, as of September this year.
Clearly the PC audience who never planned to buy a PS5 are looking for these games. Earlier this month, Lealeker Amethxst on X posted a screenshot of Sony’s logos in the PlayStation Store, including a “crossing” logo in the Xbox-Like game play on PC and PS5.
I wasn’t thinking this either @Zuby_techThe posted post would go viral, so:
– The screen is realistic (see video below)
– Features are available on PS5 (not PS4)
– Symbols are official sony fonts (UF-code: ef5b to EF61)You can see for yourself by searching for my ID: Yamethxst pic.twitter.com/xz0e5u14v6

We might get to the point where Sony developers release games alongside the upcoming PlayStation and PC devices. That’s not to say that what Sony and AMD are cooking up isn’t exciting. Apu’s latest AMD, or faster processing units, are already as tough as they come for gaming. The only question that changes is if the next-Gen PS6 will be expensive enough that gamers won’t just go out and buy the same PC.
