A Kennebunk, Maine, city official has stepped down from his role as liaison to the local school board after facing backlash for suggesting that critics of the transgender athlete policy were ‘prone. “
Vice Chair Leslie Trentange, who serves on the Kennebunk Select Board, made the comments during the school’s Oct. 20) The policy, consistent with state law, allows students to join sports teams and use facilities that match their gender identity.
Parents and community members across Maine have protested similar policies, arguing for Title IX Prot.
TRALELANGO, who said he was speaking as a ‘concerned member of the public,’ told the Board that “the majority of the district knows that all students are welcome.” He went on to say that opponents of transgender policy have found “delusional depravity” and “hatred is their only pastime.”

He added that their “concern with what’s going on between the private parts of our students is nothing short of creepy and should raise eyebrows around our school district.”
“Their recognition of genitalia points to a lack of attention to students in this region, but perhaps an underlying cause of their investigative tendencies,” he continues. “There is a register for that.”
His remarks drew boos from those in attendance and a quick reaction from RSU 21 school board chairman Matthew Stratford, who called his comments “wrong.”
“I don’t think that was inappropriate, and I stand by my comments,” Trontange replied.

His miracles sparked a backlash in the community, prompting characters to go to the Kennebunk board and choose to write and want to report on social media.
In Oct. 28 Select Board meeting, John Salamone, Republican candidate for Maine Senate District 31, accused Trentange of violating the city’s code of conduct and urged his approach.
“When an elected official uses his or her platform to backstabbing citizens, it undermines the integrity of the board and promotes public trust in local government,” Salamone said. He called his removal as Link to RSU 21 and a public apology.
Some citizens received criticism of him, while others argued that the trantange’s views were protected under federal law and the first amendment. Former RSU 21 Board member Lesley Stoeffer said, “Ms. Trentange owes no one an apology.”
Other residents and Board members, speaking as private citizens, defended his right to free speech.

“OPEN, that’s how democracy works,” Karen pluttes said in response to calls for punitive action. “Restricting free speech is not the way. And that’s worrying.”

“I personally feel that Leslie had 100% right and freedom of speech to say what she feels about any topic, and I will always support my fellow members,” and I will. “I just know that as an elected official, for me, it’s a moral decision to never cross that line.”
During the same meeting, Trentange admitted that his words may have ‘some limitations’ but he stood by them. He refused to apologize to those who criticized him and instead expressed regret to the ‘queer community.’
“If there are people in the tolerant, queer community who hear my message and serve them or harm them in any way, that’s what I regret,” she said. “I regret any inappropriate or inappropriate pressure from other members of the select board or city staff who have felt about my comments as an individual.”
Treentange said he will step down as liaison with the school board to avoid any “confusion” about his role with the school district when attending meetings. He serves as the chairman of the Kennebunk select board.

RSU 21, Trentange, and the select board did not return Fox News’ digital request for comment.

In this statement of Oct. 27 posted on Facebook, Stratford said the district’s transgender policy is in line with the Maine Civil Rights Act and will not be reinstated this school year. He appealed for humanity in future meetings and reminded citizens that “there is no place for harassment, discriminatory language, or disrespectful words” during public comment “during public comment.
