‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star James Pickens Jr. Colon Cancer Detection

James Pickens Jr. revealed his battle with prostate cancer when his “gray character” was diagnosed with cancer in the middle of the season.

Packets, 73, who portrays Dr. Richard Webber in the hit ABC Medical Drama, was diagnosed with ProState cancer following the year’s enthusiasm in 2024.

“It’s not the kind of news you want to hear, but to be honest, prostate cancer runs in my family,” he told dark health news. “My father had it. He had many brothers; several of them had it. I would be surprised if I didn’t get it.”

He added, “I found a first cousin who is 90 years old, still alive, actually; he had it. His son has it. Nobody knows.”

“We caught it early, so they thought that would be the best course of action,” he said before noting, “I have a rare variation that you don’t see very often.”
