A law enforcement officer was injured Sunday afternoon after a man allegedly drove a pickup truck into poles and rammed them during an operation in Charlotte, as an immigration crackdown swept across the North Carolina city.
The suspect – an American citizen – sped his van at law enforcement officers near the University City area, according to X Post from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The driver then fled, sparking a “dangerous high-speed chase through a high-traffic area” before agents were able to bring him into the department, DHS said.

Another officer was injured in the incident, according to DHS.
After the suspect was arrested, agents found a gun inside the van, officials confirmed.

The move comes months after the fatal stabbing of Iryna Zaritska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian activist, on a Charlotte light rail.
It follows similar forced immigration attacks in California, Illinois, Oregon and New York.
