Former FBI director James Oweza has a federal judge dismissing the anti-Mosombulu case on Monday, saying the case against him was based on “what to do with it.”
Judge Cameron Currie dismissed the false statements as outright, ruling that they were brought by the wrong lawyer. President Donald Trump’s administration maintains that the attorney, Lindsay Halligan, was legally appointed and has indicated that they plan to pursue further legal action.
“I am glad that the court ended this case against me, which was a prosecution based on management and performance, and to show what the Department of Justice has been diverted to Donald Trump, which,” he said, before thanking the lawyers who represented him in this case.
“This case hurt me personally, obviously, but it is very important because a message has to be sent.

The Curries ruling also threw out a DoJ case against New York Attorney Letitia James, citing the same reason.
“I conclude that a lawyer who is an ordinary lawyer including Mr. [Lindsey] Halligan as the US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia is invalid and that Ms. Halligan has been illegally serving in that role since September 22, 2025,” Currie wrote.

Currie, a Clinton campaigner based in South Carolina, was brought in from the position of overseeing the proceedings on the question of Horigan’s jurisdiction because he presented the jury’s arguments in Virginia. Yesterday’s challenges and Jacob’s challenges for Halligan’s nomination were combined because of their similarities.
Halligan went solo in presenting cases to grand juries not long after Trump brought in the top US attorney, Erik Siebert, and called on attorney Pam Bondi to replace him with Holigan, a former insurance attorney. Bondi agreed, but Currie found out that the term of attorney of the United States of America had already expired under Siebert and that now the judges in Virginia were responsible for appointing the US attorney who will serve until Trump can get confirmation in the Senate.

Trump could not persuade the senate to confirm several US attorneys in blue states, leading the President and Bundi to reduce the upper chambers, such as Halligan. Currie’s decision comes after federal judges and California, New Jersey and Nevada judges are not eligible.
