AI assistants feel friendly because they remember. They keep a running list of favorites, pets and finished ideas, enough to complete your sentence or book your flight. That simplicity hides the real question: If your AI can remember you, who else can?

Until recently, productive AI chatbots had shallow or fragmented memories, reset context between sessions or relied on short-term histories. Everyday life becomes easier, too. Your phone can finally handle an AI “memory card” the way it handles a wallet, ready to run in any app that respects the rules, without forcing you to rebuild your profile from scratch every time.

The market will eventually follow psychology because portability is the ultimate competitive advantage. Services that respect user-managed memory will spread across ecosystems because they manage human context and across applications.
