A person dies in the first known death from Tick-Borne-Borney Meal Allergy

The death of a young Jersey man is the first known to be related to TICK-Borney Meallerlerlerlerlerly, according to investigators at Uvahealth in Virginia.
An unidentified man, 47, reportedly died last summer four hours after eating a hamburger – just two weeks after a similar episode caused by steak.
During the summer episode, the man experienced severe abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting after eating a steak, according to a news release from Uvahealth.

The incident was initially reported as “sudden sudden death,” until Uva Health Plattts-Mills, MD, Ph.D.
The findings were published in the journal Allergy and Clinical Immunology: in practice.

Allergy, Alpha-Green Syndrome (AGS) – also known as “Meat Regeneration” or “meat tick” – is caused by the sting of the eastern star, which is found mainly in the southeast and east, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Tick’s TICK contains a sugar molecule called Alfa-Gal, which is absorbed into the body by the bite. This causes tension in certain types of red meat (mainly pork, beef, rabbit, lamb or venison) or products made from mammals (including cheese, milk, other dairy products and gelatin).

When people eat any food that contains allergens, they can experience severe symptoms within hours, although some may only have a mild reaction.
Symptoms can include a rash, nausea and vomiting after eating beef, pork or lamb, according to investigators. Others can also gain experience cold skin or skin; swelling of the lips, face, tongue and throat; and shortness of breath or shortness of breath, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Although anaphylaxis is recognized as a common risk in severe cases, the New Jersey man’s death was the first to be attributed to an allergic reaction.
Other factors that may have contributed to his severe reaction, according to Mills, include the beer he drank with his burger, his exposure to ragweed pollen and recent exercise.

Diagnosis of AGS requires antibody testing and clinical examination. Many patients face a long road to diagnosis – an average of seven years, according to Dr. Johanna Sallzer, who died at the CDC and author of the 2023 report on ALS.

“And the finding is, they should be able to reach someone who doesn’t live in the broth,” he previously told Fox News Digital. “For many people, there are barriers to getting that level of treatment.”
Once someone is diagnosed with ags, the person can have it for life.

“However, for some people, if they remove food from their diet that can reactivate Alpha Gal syndrome, in the long run, their levels against it can fall down,” said the expert.
Currently, there is no cure or treatment of the arts – although doctors can help patients manage their symptoms.

“There are many things [that] Health care providers can offer symptom relief based on individual patient response,” said Sallzer.
“Those with more severe reactions are given epi pens in case they start panicking.”
Prevention Tips
To prevent tick bites, salzer recommends using an EPA-approved insect repellent – Picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus (para-mentan-diol (PMD) or 2-undecanone – whenever there is a tick bite).

Wearing long-sleeved shirts, long pants and socks, as well as avoiding grassy, brushy and wooded areas, can also help prevent bites.
“When you come back from an area known to have ticks, be sure to wash and do a very thorough check,” he advises.

Woods-Mills urged doctors and patients living in areas where lone star ticks tend to be aware of the danger.
“More precisely, if they have unexpected episodes of severe abdominal pain that occur a few hours after eating mammalian meat, they should be investigated for the sensitivity of the oligosaccharide Alpha-Gal,” he added.
