A Christian evangelical event expected to draw 10,000 people will take place on Sunday at the same university where Charvie Kirk was killed two months ago.
Pastor Greg Laurie, founder of Harvest Crusades and senior pastor of Harvest Church in Southern California, is hosting a one-day event, “America’s Hope,” at Utah Valley University at 6 PM MT. Tickets are sold outside, but the event will be streamed live online for free.
Laurie said she was in charge of revival on the same campus where the tragedy happened.
“This community has experienced an incredible amount of grief, and we believe that the message of hope found in Jesus Christ is exactly what is needed right now,” Laurie told Fox News Digital. “Because of these tragedies, God can bring healing, unity and revival. Our prayer is that this event will remind people that evil does not have the last word;

Pastor: Charlie Kirk’s death was ‘Tratic’ many Americans sympathize with the loss
Harvest Church claims to have reached millions through its major evangelistic events over the past 35 years. Laurie said Harvest has been working with local churches in Salt Lake City for two years to bring the event to the area, but Kirk’s death hastened those plans.
“When we heard about Charlie Kirk’s murder, we immediately reached out to teachers in Utah to ask how we could support,” Laurie recalled. “They said, ‘Come soon. Our community is hurting.'”
According to Laurie, they organized the event in just six weeks – a record time compared to the usual year-long preparation process.
“But it is urgent now, and we believe that the message of the Gospel is the answer,” said Laurie.

Kirk, a devout Christian and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on September 10 on the Utah campus while leading a campus tour of a student activist organization.
In the weeks following his assassination, sales of the Bible jumped 36%, according to an analysis by the Wall Street Journal, after a reported 22% Boom in sales by 2024.
Some religious leaders also reported the operation of those present in the church.
Laurie said she saw a growing ‘openness’ to spirituality ‘among young adults, who she believes are increasingly disillusioned with secular culture.

“They want truth, authenticity, and lasting hope,” he said. “In the harvest, we are watching students, young adults, and entire families respond to the Gospel in record numbers.”
Laurie added that her prayer was the next event “adding fuel to the fire” of what she described as a nationwide spiritual awakening.
He hopes that Christians will be encouraged and challenged to continue Kirk’s value of living “fearlessly”.
“It was Jim Elliot who said, ‘I don’t want a long life, but a perfect one, like you, Lord Jesus,'” said Laurie Jesus, citing preaching to an indigenous nation in Ecuador in 1956.

Charlie Kirk’s belief in God and the way he defends the faith ‘inspires young people
“Charlie Kirk’s life was an example of a perfect life. It is a challenge for Christians today, especially young Christians, to live a courageous, fearless life.
He shared one of Kirk’s views on his faith: “[Kirk] He once said, ‘I am nothing without Jesus. I am a sinner. I fall in wonder at the glory of God. We all do it. I gave my life to the Lord … and everything I do involves Jesus Christ. I want to be remembered for the courage of my faith. The most important thing is my faith. ‘”
“That baton is in our hands now,” Laurie said. “When Charlie was holding the microphone, he was giving us the torch.”

Christian singers Chris Tomlin and Phil Fickham tend to lead worship at the Sunday evening event. Both artists performed at Kirk’s funeral in September.
“We’re going to go to that place of darkness, and we’re going to turn on the bright light of Jesus Christ and proclaim the gospel that Charlie believed,” Laurie said again about the event. “What it meant was that evil will be turned into good.”
