If there’s one movie that really drives this point home, it has to be 2003 A monsteris a crime drama that follows the life and times of serial killer Aileen Wuorsos, who shot and killed seven men between 1989 and 1990.

Although A monster It takes a healthy amount of leartive freedom for a dramatic effect, explain voornos expression to absolute perfection. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

Theron doesn’t just look the part A monsterbut his awards see so that you will forget watching the work of legends. We are introduced to WuoROS as he meets his love Selby Wall (Christina Ricci), a fictional version of his partner Tyria Moore. The story here is simple and doesn’t need much elaboration. The Wuonos hit the wall, and the two move in with a motel and big plans to make enough money to get their own place and live their lives.

While working the streets, the Woors are brutally attacked by a customer named Vincent and they retaliate by shooting him to death. She vows to stop prostitution after disposing of her body and stealing her car, but fails in all attempts to go legal because she has zero job experience.

Once he promises to support the wall financially, he continues to work the streets but grows more violent with each encounter. He shoots up their rooms and steals their cars, which he claims to allow himself to defend himself regularly despite being shown to be the upper hand in many situations. Naturally, this causes strife in the relationship, leading to Wuornos being discovered, condemned, and eventually killed.

Historically inaccurate, but a great lesson

While the series of events shown inside A monster Not a faithful replication of Wuerson’s life and relationships, the character study is entirely appropriate thanks to Charlize’s willingness to fully commit. Formally diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder, Wuorsos is known to have violent, well-documented emotional outbursts. Check out any interview with him on YouTube or Netflix and you’ll see how quickly he goes from warm and just downright vulnerable as if there’s a switch inside his head. Theron brings this energy to A monster So by pretending it’s not really interesting.

Entry A monster As a work of fiction based on real people, it’s obvious why Theron won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Aileen Wuorons. His physical transformation is self-contradictory, but what goes wrong is the way he seems to be at ease while embodying the character. As the real-life counterpart of the film explores, we see a spiritually unstable woman transform from a street worker to a former serial killer in a very short time. When he goes out on the streets claiming to be another victim, he is merciless. The second he gets home, he’s warm and firm as if he’s coming back from a constant change.

As a piece of true crime close to cinema, A monster Go for it if you want a blow-blow narrative. As a work of fiction and characterization, it’s the perfect movie to pop into if you’re looking for a masterclass in storytelling. As of this writing, you can stream it for free on Amazon Prime Video.
