The Ghostbusters had more staying power than any other comic of the 80s. It has been quoted for decades, has been performed in theaters since 1984, and has had two musical sequels. The good thing about the franchise, however, is that as great as the movie was, it managed to stay popular thanks to the development of the Saturday morning cartoon, The Real Ghostbusters.
Running for five years, the popularity of the cartoon helped the series reach a new audience and is responsible, if not, for the millennial generation’s love of the franchise as a film. As it turns out, J. Michael Straczynski (JMS), the man who would continue to create Babylon 5he worked on the cartoon as one of his first jobs and wrote the biggest episodes of the series.
From Citizen Ghost to Midnight on the Firing Line
J’s eye. Michael Straczynski is a legend in the world of sci-fi. He wrote the whole story Babylon 5 before he installs the project, and continues his work The Amazing Spider-Man one of the greatest in history. His amazing ability to write and develop entire documents at superhuman speed led to his being called there The Real Ghostbusters received a major, 65-episode syndicated order from ABC.
Episodes he wrote include the Season 1 highlight “Take Two,” where the Ghostbusters go to Hollywood to discuss a movie about them, and include footage from the live-action film. “Citizen Ghost” explains why Slimer joins them after being a villain in the first film, “Chicken, He Clucked,” about a man who uses magic to exterminate all the chickens in the world, and “Knock, Knock,” which has a door that shouldn’t be opened until Doomsday, and it opens early.
It may be hard to imagine the same man who wrote “Midnight on the Firing Line” and “Between the Darkness and Light” Babylon 5 and wrote “Doctor, Doctor,” the most intimate horror series ever. Some of the best cartoons of the 80s were written and edited by JMS. In fact, it is not a stretch to say that his contributions to it The Real Ghostbusters that’s why the entire franchise is fondly remembered today.
The Real Ghostbusters Was So Good You Forgot It Was Commercial
The Ghostbusters it was such a huge success that nothing the franchise has done since has come close to replicating its success. Ghostbusters II it couldn’t even reach the level of the first movie, and by the time of the legacy, it had been so long that even die-hard fans thought they would never see another official entry in their lifetime. It was the cartoon, with its resulting line of action figures, playsets, and comics, that kept the franchise going.
80s cartoons were toy commercials, too The Real Ghostbusters nothing happened, but thanks in part to JMS’s brilliant and creative mind, it overcame low expectations to become a generational favorite. It’s not uncommon for fans of a franchise to say that the first movie is the best part, but close behind is the cartoon.
