Bondi Beach attack: Dashcam video shows couple suspected of being gunmen – The National

The couple killed in the Bondi Beach Hanukkah attack tried to stop one of the suspected shooters and briefly grabbed his weapon, according to dashcam footage.

It is reported that Boris Gurman, 69, and his wife, Sofia, 61, intervened and tried to rob the suspect, and died.

Dashcam footage shared on Chinese social media site Rednote shows Gurman fighting with one of the alleged attackers, disarming him and both men falling onto the street.

Boris and Sofia Gurman were killed trying to take down the suspect in the Bondi Beach shooting that killed 16 people at a Hannukah party on Sunday.

Various drone footage shows the couple lying motionless on the pavement, according to The Guardian.

“We are devastated by the sudden and senseless loss of our beloved Boris and Sofia Gurman,” the family told the Sydney Morning Herald. “They had been married for 34 years, it’s almost the year of their 35th wedding anniversary in January.

“Although there is nothing that can ease the pain of losing Boris and Sofia, we feel an overwhelming sense of pride in their bravery and selflessness,” the family continued.

“This sums up who Boris and Sofia were – people who tried to help others through selflessness and self-sacrifice.”

Boris was a retired mechanic and Sofia worked for Australia Post, their family said.

The couple were Bondi Beach locals and their loved ones were described as an “honest” and “hard-working” couple who were “devoted” to their family and treated everyone with respect and kindness.

“They were the heart of our family, and their absence has left an immeasurable void,” the statement concluded.
