Cabot first gained national attention when a video of her and her then-boss, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, enjoying a romantic moment at a Coldplay concert went viral in 2025.

“Either they’re dating or they’re shy,” Martin joked as the audience laughed.
After the scandal, Cabot tendered his resignation as head of HR at the Astronomer, and Byron was put on leave for the first time and then resigned.
In an interview with the New York Times in December 2025, Cabot opened up about this now infamous night and what it cost him.

“I made a bad decision and had a few High Noons and danced and misbehaved with my boss,” said Cabot. “And it’s nothing. And I took responsibility and quit my job for that. That’s the price I chose to pay. I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really hurt. But you don’t have to be threatened with death for them.”
She went on to say that she had opened up to Byron about her marital problems and recalled him telling her she was “going through the same thing,” adding that the admission “strengthened our bond.” He remembered kissing her for the first time at the concert after a few drinks and hugging her.

“When I attended a Coldplay concert in July and we were seen on camera kissing for a few seconds, Kristin Cabot’s life suddenly exploded,” the event description said. “Online harassment, constant death threats, and 300 billion views so far: an endless media frenzy. From the outside, it was a funny, even unpleasant meme; but for him, everything changed that day.”
It continued: “Cabot saw first-hand the dangers of the long-standing public shaming women face in the face of media scrutiny, something their male counterparts often seem to avoid. Meanwhile, the Astronomer’s former CEO and his PR representative, industry insider Dini von Mueffling, shared a strategy – both immediate and long-term – that helped his narrator take control of his story.”
