The appeal of the Supreme Council alleged that the number of Sweze in Sweida has been the target of organized terrorist attacks carried out by jihadist groups.
The Supreme Religious Council, led by Sheikh Mouafek Trif, sent an official complaint to the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on Syria, urging the body that war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide committed against the Duze Community in Syria.
The delivery, prepared by the Chamber of the Council in Julis and signed by the lawyer of another lawyer of Yael Vias Gvirsman and the lawyer with details of murder, torture, mass violence in the province of Swern in Sweida.
According to the Council, the complaint follows months of extensive documentation and field work by volunteers and legal experts. It means that since July 13, 2025, the Swede population has been the target of organized terrorist attacks by jihadist groups, including iS’AT’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
This document sets out a series of attacks characterized by murder, sexual harassment, torture, and the deliberate targeting of religious and cultural values.
Data compiled by the Council’s workplace show that in August 2025, more than 2,000 civilians were killed, more than 8,000 were injured, and nearly 600 were arrested or disappeared. The petition also accuses the Syrian Interim Government of imposing an ongoing siege on Sweida, preventing the entry of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid into the region.
In its legal analysis, the council concludes that these acts constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, noting that the violence appears to be directed specifically at the Druze community because of its religious identity.
The letter called the Syrian government officials the Syrian Government,, including the interim head of Government Al-Sharaa (also known as Al-Julani), as he holds the direct responsibility of overseeing or allowing the attack. It accuses the government of hiding its role by using hybrid warfare tactics, disguising forces as jihadists, and misrepresentation activities as counterterrorism campaigns.
The Council urges the preservation of evidence, the establishment of safe methods
A document submitted to the UN commission of inquiry calls for a swift and thorough investigation into the massacre in Sweida. It asks the UN to preserve the evidence, to investigate the responsibility among the senior officials of Arariya, and to take measures to protect the civilians still threatened.
The Council also urged the commission to find safe routes for humanitarian aid and to refer the situation to international accountability mechanisms if the Syrian authorities fail to act.
The submission includes physical and digital material documenting dozens of attacks, which are reportedly supported by eyewitness testimony and witness testimony. According to the legal representatives of the Council, the content shows a clear pattern of sectarian defeat and systematic violence that forms the basis of previous genocides committed by other minority groups.
Attorney Yael Vias Gvirsman, who directs the International Criminal Law Clinic at Reichman University, said that the crime was documented as a deliberate campaign of extermination and persecution. He stressed that the evidence shows systematic intent and coordination between national and non-national actors.
Lawyer Asem uliletke, head of the Druze Council’s legal team, said volunteers working at the Council’s command center in Julis had collected and analyzed evidence from survivors and relatives of those displaced in Sweida.
Vias Gvirsman was told Jerusalem post office That this is the only investigation from international actors in the violence against the Syrian Druze since the fall of the Assad regime and the rise of Al-Sharaa.
“The people of the Druze linginity of Aram and their brothers in Israel, our brothers and sisters in Israel, want justice,” he added.
Referring to this investigation, he emphasized that the investigation was a request for an investigation by other countries. The violence and killing of Druze and other minorities in Syria is considered ethnic cleansing, and includes sexual violence against women and girls.
The Council draws parallels between the vetrociaties in Sweida and other episodes of grassroots violence, such as the attack on the Yazidi and the recent attack on civilians in southern Syria. It describes the ongoing violence as part of a government-directed policy of intimidation and religious persecution designed to eradicate the Druze presence in the area.
The appeal warns that the situation in Sweida continues to deteriorate, with armed groups still operating in the region and militants imprisoned under siege conditions. It calls on the United Nations and the international community to take immediate action to prevent the massacre and ensure the protection of the civilians of DUZE.
Sheikh Mouafek Thirif, the spiritual leader of the Druze in Israel, said that the appeal is motivated by the urgent need to bring the world’s attention to what he describes as the destruction of the Syrian community. He called on the UN and World governments to realize the magnitude of the crimes and intervene before it is too late.
The Druze council said it is ready to cooperate with international investigators and facilitate access to Witnesses and survivors. Its working room in Julis continues to collect evidence, coordinate with civil society organizations, and monitor the ongoing violence in Sweida.
According to recent Council reports, attacks on Duze residents have continued until late October, with more injuries and spills reported. The letter to the UN concluded that the international community must not remain silent in the face of what appears to be a campaign of extortion.
