Customs and Border Protection had no immediate comment. Costco did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Based in Isakaquah, Washington, Costco has joined a number of companies that will protect the possible refunds. It is among the largest, with US $ 275.2 billion in revenue for the year ending Aug. 31.
Other companies that have sued include Bubble Bee Foods, ray-backglass maker EssilorluxoTica, Kawasaki Motors, Revlon and Tokohama Tire, court records show. During oral arguments on November 5, Supreme Court cases from both sides of the political spectrum raised serious questions about whether Trump used a legal statute that legally enforces financial law.
The justices took the case on an expedited basis, but did not say when they would rule.
Costco has taken a number of steps to get cash flow, including reducing the number of suppliers, and is heavily dependent on the location and its Kirkland brand.
