“Arkansas consumers have paid high egg prices and are facing egg shortages because of red tape that is forcing farmers to throw away hundreds of millions of eggs each year,” Cotton said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “My Bill will cut these excessive regulations and lower egg prices.”

The legislation would require the Food and Drug Administration, in cooperation with the US Department of Agriculture, to rewrite egg regulations so that eggs intended for hatchery can also find a food, effective control method to strengthen the egg population.

The prices of eggs have been strongly included at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year, they reached a record high in March of more than $6 per dozen eggs. But the cost of eggs has fallen sharply, thanks in part to President Donald Trump and his administration’s efforts to combat the effects of Avian influenza.

Trump ordered the USDA earlier this year to withdraw $ 1 billion from the program to strengthen the egg flu against avian flu, which is focused on studying biosecurity resources, farmer relief, vaccine research and imports.

There has been a series of decisions against egg producers for alleged price fixing this year and in particular, the Trump administration is suing the state of California for allegedly violating Federal law and increasing egg prices with red tape.

But egg prices have been pushed back to record highs earlier this year. According to the USDA’s most recent egg count, eggs in the first week of December are all gone, save for some markets like California. Large egg whites, for example, dropped about 17% to an average egg price of $1.91 per dozen.
