Alan Kirshner, a youth chess organizer and professor of political science, was put off for years when asked if he had ever seen a chess “prigy.”
That changed when he first saw San Mateo Naroditsky’s Daniel Naroditsky, then a first grader, in action.
“You could tell by the way he was focused and focused, but he was relaxed at the same time,” said Kirshner, a retired Promont College major in political science and history. “I ran to his dad, grabbed him by the arm, and said, ‘You’re a cool guy.'”
The youngster proved a prophetic Kirshner. He eventually rose to the level of Chess Grandmaster – the highest position – while leading a series of strategy books and eventually attracting a new generation of chess lovers through social media.
Naroditsky’s star suddenly on Monday as announced by the Charlotte Chess Center, where the 29-year-old worked as a coach.
“Let’s remember Daniel for his love and his love for the game of chess, and for the joy and inspiration he brought us all every day,” said the meeting of North Carolina sent to social media.
The institute added: “Daniel was a talented chess player, analyst, and teacher and a respected member of the chess community, admired and respected by his son and brother all over the world.”
No cause of death was given by the agency, and funeral arrangements had been announced.
Naroditsky was born in San Mateo and competed throughout the Bay Area.
Although he impressed Kirshner as a first grader, it was four years later that Naroditsky won the competitive Calchess Calchess Calchess Scholastic School High School School School School High School School High School School High School School High School Bracket competition and became the Fifth-Gradaser. This competition is the equivalent of difficulty in northern California.
Kirshner wrote in a press release that Naroditsky was the youngest champion in the tournament’s history.
Fortunately for Naroditsky’s competitors, he was too young to represent Northern California in the Denker tournament for the state’s elite later that year, which was reserved for elites only.
Naroditsky had bigger goals, though.
In December, he devised a chess strategy known as the “Sicilian Defence” to win Russia Bukavshin’s Ivan Bukavshin In the final round of the two-hour Under-12 World Youth Chess Championship in Antalya, Turkey.
The following year, Naroditsky enrolled in sixth grade at Crystal Springs Uplands School in Belmont, Calif., and attended school there for two years.
A year later, he re-enrolled in the local high school as a 10th-grader in 2011.
The school submitted the 2011 update from Naroditsky’s brotherAlan, who noticed Daniel received the title of Morld Master, the highest honor in the world of chess.
A year ago, 14-year-old Naroditsky moved to publish his first chess strategy book, “Introducing Chess Chess. ” In 2015, he added a second book, “Mastering Complex Endgames: Practical Lessons in Critical Writing and Strategy. “
Naroditsky enjoyed a banner 2013 that included winning the US Junior Chess Championship In Junewhile leading the desired subject Grandma’s in July.
In 2019, Naroditsky graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor’s degree in history.
Right after completing his degree, he started posting Chess Strategy Videos on YouTube and other platforms, including durability. He got 500,000 YouTube followers.
His last video, an hour long, posted Friday, was entitled, “He thought I was gone! Speedrun is coming back! “
“I’ve kind of taken a kind of creative break, deciding on future content trends,” Naroditsky said. “So, I won’t spend too much on it now because I know everyone is happy with a certain game of chess.”
Crystal Springs School Principal Kelly Schoolno said the campus was “very sad to pass.”
“During his years at Crystal, Daniel was known not only for his amazing intelligence and chess mastery, but also for his warmth, but also for his humility and kindness,” Sortino wrote “in an emailed statement. “Our hearts go out to his family and his loved ones, and to all those inspired by his talent and his character. His loss is deeply felt in the crystal community.”
