Dr. Marc Siegel: Miracles unite Americans across political diversity with a faith that calls for it

In a time of great political division, we need a common ground to bring us back together. Most of us believe in miracles. A recent poll revealed that three out of four Americans identify with some form of religious faith – as many as Christians, and are likely to say that faith is most important in their lives. We can use this to connect us to the world.
When we read that someone miraculously survived a cardiac arrest – as NFL Security Damar Hamlin did on the football field in Cincinnati in 2023, or through rep.
As I explain in my new book, “miracles among us,” in rep. Cesise’s case, the doctors who performed this combined radiological and provil procedure to repair his torn ligaments after transferring 50 units performed a ceremony justified by their duties. They also believe that Sukali’s “thanks to God” played a direct role in his recovery.

The scale told me, “I have never felt fear. As soon as I threw my life into God’s hands, my incredible calm and brokenness went to a different place.”
Many subjects in my book report that when faced with a miracle, they calm down knowing that their lives are in God’s hands.
House Speaker Steve Scalese, R-LA., walks with his wife Jennifer from his Capitol office on the first day of Congress in June 2017.
Dr. Robert Montgomery, chief of surgery at Nyu, performed seven cardiac arrests before the heart transplant. “In this experience, I feel a connection to a dimension, a connection to something much greater than my experiences in the world. I begin to calm down with a person on top of it. Just before I get a sound. As I hear my breath. I feel that my soul is there. As I feel There is this full awareness of this dimension and you know that I am a living person.”

Montgomery says this experience helped him come to peace with who he is, and enabled him to become a more successful physician and surgeon.
Jordan Grafman, a neurophysiologist at the Northwestern University of Northwestern, recently discovered with the MRIOL map of the visible MRIon and Consary Lension that shows that the belief in miracles relies on the same networks on the right side and outside of political belief as part of the brain. In addition, both political and spiritual sites are equally informative and lead to the desire to be part of a common society – which suggests that a person can sometimes take something else.

Indeed, I do not believe that a strict separation of Church and State is good for patient care or society. Why should a deeply religious doctor leave his parts or tallis at the door of a hospital or medical office? Why shouldn’t a wise doctor pray with his patients the way Congressman Scakese’s doctors did?

Consider that acknowledging the high acceptance of authority can reduce one’s desire to fear or compete with another. “Fear God, not man” is a lesson from Susise’s and Montgomery’s experiences. It’s a common theme in many religions– and it can help calm the anger that fuels our politics.
My father, Father, survived the emergency operation and the high operation of FIstula, one month on the ventilator, and more than three years on Dialysis because of the love for my mother, 100 years.

Last week he explained to me how he lived so long: “When someone throws a punch, I’m a coward,” he said.

Praying for my patients means that they are more than just bodies to be repaired – that they also have precious souls to be developed.

This is the secret to great efficiency, and it keeps me from writing any of my patients too soon. In both cases, there may be one miracle we will have.
Believing in miracles is also a way forward to mutual respect, regardless of political relations in today’s oppressed and divided regions.
