On the night of New York’s Mayoli, one Demontation broke the ranks and leadership in his room to reveal reservations about Zohran Mamdani.
Rep. Tom Suozzi, Dn.Y., on Wednesday said he would allow an independent and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo – breaking with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, dn.y.
Cuomo ran as an independent after failing to capture a Democratic nomination earlier this year.
“I’m a Democratic Premier, not a Democratic Socialist. I’m rooting for Andrew Cuomo,” Suozzi said in a post to X. “I can’t bring back the most publicized socialite to restart a smart city in America.”

“We need leaders who will fight crime, not put the police down. Who will create job opportunities, who will not harm the tax base, who will not make it more expensive for middle-class families to live here.”
As a balance from New York with a track record of access to the entire side, suozzi is no stranger to tying the team. So far, in the 119th Congress, he has cast a vote against a Democrat 12% of the time.
Suozzi’s approval comes with many high-ranking figures in the democratic party waiting until the last minute to make it clear that they stand where they stand when they are stopped by mamdani. Most notably while he drew the support of jeffries, he has yet to receive any word of support from the Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Dn.Y.
In response to Suozzi’s endorsement, Cuomo praised the Democratic legislature.
“I’m grateful to have the support of Congressman Tom Suozzi as we head into early voting. I’ve known Tom for many years, and I look forward to serving with him as New York is found, and I look forward to it,” Cuomo wrote.
Zohran Mamdani sets the tone for the pending key in the New York City Mailor Race
After months of fielding the question, Jeffries finally brought up Mamdani last week but didn’t respond that Schmer should do the same.
“I gave a statement regarding the Mayoral race last Friday. That statement speaks for itself,” Jeffries said at a press conference on Tuesday.

In his agreement, Jeffries said he supported the general objectives of what Mamdani put on his platform.
“I deeply respect the will of primary voters and inspired young people to participate in the electoral process,” Jeffries said in his compromise. “Zohran Mamdani is relentlessly focused on tackling cost-effective problems.”

Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic exponent, was shocked by the friendship when he captured the democratic name of Mayor from other candidates in June. Among other opposition policy positions, Mamdani has advocated for tax increases to expand government social programs, renew US relations with Israel, and freeze taxes in New York City.
Since he won the nomination, Democrats in Congress have repeatedly questioned whether they will support Mamdani.

Besides Jeffries, only a handful of other Democrats in party leadership roles have endorsed Mamdani. Cov. Kathy Hochul and Stormetha Carl Heateie also put their weight behind her sexuality.
