Denmark’s MP cut off after telling Trump to ‘fk off’ – again – over Greenland – National

Danish politician Anders Vistisen was reprimanded after telling US President Donald Trump to “break up” – again – during a European Parliament floor speech amid the president’s threats to annex Greenland.
Vistisen, 38, addressed Trump, 79, during a speech to the European Union legislature, saying, “Dear President Trump, listen carefully. Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years. It is an integrated country. It is not for sale.
“Let me put this in words you can understand: Mr. President, f–k off,” he added.
Vistisen continued his speech in Danish but was interrupted by the speaker who warned him about his use of profanity.
“I’m sorry, this is against our rules,” he told a member of the European Parliament. “It’s a lot about how you might feel, or how the room might feel about this, we have clear rules about profanity and inappropriate language in this room.
“I’m sorry to disturb you, but it’s unacceptable, even if you have strong political feelings about this.”
This is not the first time Vistisen has sworn directly at Trump.
Last January, Vistisen told Trump to “listen carefully” and used the profanity that got him into trouble with the European Parliament – almost the exact same phrase he used on Tuesday.
“Let me put it in words you might understand,” he said. “Mr. Trump, f–k off!”

Nicolae Stefanuta, vice president of the European Parliament, jumped in to tell Vistisen that the language was unacceptable.

“If the translation was true, the word you use is not allowed in this house and there will be consequences for the message you used,” said Stefanuta. “It’s wrong in this democratic house. Thank you. No matter what we think of Mr. Trump, it’s unacceptable to use that kind of language.”
Vistisen doubled down on his statement at the time and sent his message to X, writing, “Greenland is not for sale. Greenland has been part of Denmark for 800 years, more than twice as long as the US has existed. Any true activist should understand that this is an unacceptable attack on the country’s sovereignty!”
He later said that the European Parliament threatened to fine him for using profanity.
“Penalties for telling the truth about foreigners and crime! Penalties for telling the truth about Greenlanders! Penalties for telling the truth about Trump!” wrote to X.
Trump has insisted that the US should control Greenland, a territory of NATO ally Denmark, and last week said anything less than the Arctic island in US hands “will not be acceptable.”
During a White House event on rural health care, Trump recounted on Friday how he threatened European allies with a drug tax.
“I can do that for Greenland too,” Trump said. “I might impose taxes on countries if they don’t agree with Greenland, because we need Greenland to protect the country. So I can do that.”
Trump has repeatedly called for US sovereignty over Greenland, and has yet to deploy the military to control the mineral-rich island, located in the unfriendly Arctic.
In December 2025, Trump said that the US is not interested in Greenland for its mineral wealth.
“We have a lot of mineral deposits and oil and everything. We have more oil than any other country in the world,” Trump said. “We’ll have to fix everything.”
Trump first expressed his interest in Greenland in 2019 during his first term in office. He said Greenland was “damaging Denmark a lot” and costing US$700 million a year. His solution was for the United States to buy Greenland, calling it a “big real estate deal.”
