Former CNN host Don Lemon has been arrested by authorities for his involvement in a protest at a Minnesota church.

Lemon was arrested by federal agents Thursday night in Los Angeles while speaking at the Grammy Awards, according to his attorney, Abbe Lowell.

“Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis is no different than what he has always done,” Lowell said in a statement. “The First Amendment is there to protect journalists in their role to shine a light on the truth and hold those in power accountable. There is no more important time for people like Don to do this work.”

He continued, “Instead of investigating the federal agents who killed two peaceful Minnesota protesters, the Trump Justice Department is devoting its time, attention and resources to this arrest, and that is a true case of wrongdoing in this case. This unprecedented attack on the First Amendment and a blatant attempt to distract attention from the many problems facing this administration will not stop. The Donald will vigorously fight these charges in court.”

Earlier this month, Lemon live-streamed the left-wing riots that hit St. Lemon told viewers that “freedom of protest” is what the First Amendment is all about.

A federal magistrate judge previously rejected the Justice Department’s first attempt to indict Lemon.

One of the organizers of the church protest, Nekima Levy Armstrong, is one of those arrested for this incident. He appeared in Lemon’s photos.

“Hear it loud and clear: WE DO NOT TOLERATE ATTACKS ON PLACES OF WORSHIP,” Bondi wrote in X.

Lemon insisted he had “nothing to do with that organization” and “didn’t even know they were going this week until we followed them,” although a video he posted on YouTube suggested he at least knew the plan for the riots.

“We don’t know what’s going on. We’re just doing it, but we don’t know how it’s going to play out … we’ll see what happens after this, which is surprising,” Lemon told viewers in a car on his way to church.

“We just got this this morning,” Lemon continued. “I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on.”

When Lemon arrived at the church, he told his team that he planned to “go inside and give a report on what’s going on,” but ordered his driver and cameraman to stay away from the church.

“I’m just going to go in and see what’s going on,” said Lemon as he entered the church.

Lemon appeared to enter before the chaos, as the pastor could be heard on the Lemon feed before the service was interrupted. Lemon then told the viewers that the protesters entered the church as the commotion was heard. Lemon’s cameraman then entered the building to broadcast the ordeal live.

“I’m a reporter,” Lemon told a churchgoer amid the chaos.

Lemon went on to write about the brutal attack on the church, which he called an “undercover operation.”

“You have to be willing to go into places and disrupt and make people uncomfortable. That’s what this country is all about,” Lemon said.

Harmeet Dhillon, the Justice Department’s assistant attorney general for human rights, previously suggested that Lemon could face significant consequences for his alleged involvement in the church attack.

Dhillon said Lemon thought he was innocent, but his role as a reporter wasn’t really a “shield” that he might be part of a crime.

“Don Lemon himself has come out and said he knew exactly what was going to happen inside that facility. He went into the facility, and he started ‘doing journalism,’ as if that’s some kind of shield from being part, an entrenched part of a criminal conspiracy,” said Dhillon. in the conversation and Benny Johnson on Monday,

“It’s not, so we’re getting our ducks in a row, we’re getting the facts together, and this is a very serious issue,” he continued. “Come next Sunday, no one in the United States should think they’re going to be able to get away with this. Everyone in the protest community needs to know that the full force of the federal government is going to come down and prevent this from happening and keep people away for a long, long time.”

Lemon previously told Fox News Digital that he stands by his reporting and has faced online threats as a result.

“It is noteworthy that I have been considered the face of the protest that I organized as a journalist – especially since I was not the only journalist there. That frame is telling. What is even more telling is the series of violent threats, as well as homophobic and racist insults, directed at me on the Internet by MAGA supporters and right-upified by a press of the Lemonwing.

“If this much time and energy is going to be spent generating outrage, it would be better spent investigating the tragic death of Renee Nicole Good – the very issue that brought people to the streets in the first place,” Lemon continued. “I stand by my report.”
