Father of missing child Emmanuel pleads guilty to manslaughter in son’s death
The father of missing child Emmanuel Haro has pleaded guilty to murder in Riverside County.
Jake Haro pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his 7-month-old son, Emmanuel, weeks after the boy’s parents falsely reported him missing in Riverside County.
Haro appeared in court on Thursday, where he changed his plea to not guilty. He also pleaded guilty to filing a false police report and assault on a child under the age of 8, according to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
Rebecca Haro pleaded guilty to murder and remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 3 for a preliminary hearing. Jake Haro is scheduled to be sentenced at a hearing.
Halo, 32, was arrested by Emmanuel’s mother, Rebecca Haro, 41, in connection with the boy’s death in August. At first, they said he was kidnapped after being attacked by attacker Rebecca Haro.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Rebecca Haro said she was attacked in the Yucaipa parking lot on Aug. 14 Outside a supermarket 5 while changing Emmanuel’s diaper. But investigators said there were inconsistencies in his initial statement, and when they met with him about the details, they said he stopped cooperating.
Authorities arrested the parents on their Cabocazon page a week after they reported their son missing.
During the first weeks of the investigation, search parties collected land in the desert of Moreno Valley. They were accompanied by Jake Haro, who was wearing a prison jumper. Authorities did not find the boy, officials said. The bodies of the infants were not found.
When Emmanuel’s search continued, the focus was on Rebecca for both parents after it came to light that Jake Haro had a prior conviction for child abuse.
In 2018, Jake Haro was interviewed by Hemet Police by Hemet Police after his child was examined at a local hospital, according to the hospital police sought an arrest warrant. When Jake and Rebecca Haro reported Emmanuel missing, Riverside County authorities followed and removed the 2-year-old from the home.
