FIFA Men Cup World Draw: Here’s how it works – nationally

Canada finds its Group opponents today in the next FIFA World Cup 48 FIFA World Cup expansion in Washington, DC

The Canadian men will open Group B on June 12th in Toronto before matches on June 18th and 24th in Vancouver.

Forty-two countries have appeared so far, with more to be decided in the March playoffs. The full tournament schedule will be revealed tomorrow.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup Draw will take place on Friday at 12 PM Est, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC

US President Donald Trump, along with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Prime Minister Parcey, are expected to attend.

A record 64 countries will participate to decide which of the 48 teams will take the field of the tournament next summer.

The drawing will divide the field of 48 teams into 12 groups of four groups, designated group a, group B … and so on, in Group L. The balls corresponding to the four competing pots will be played in each pot.

The six balls in pot four do not correspond to any particular country because those places in the world cup will not be decided until March.

Four European teams will qualify through the UEFA playoffs, while the other two FIFA playoffs will feature teams from around the world.

Host countries – the US, Mexico and Canada – are allowed to pot. That’s an important perk because it means they avoid being in a group with a few of the top teams in the tournament.

The tournament is expanding from 32 to 48 teams, and the draw will divide them into 12 teams of four.

It has already been decided that Mexico will be in group A, Canada in group B and the US in group D.

Will you have a ‘team of death’?

The highest ranked team that is not qualified for this world cup is a four-time champion, ranked NO. 12 with FIFA. The Italians still have a chance to qualify for UEFA PLAYOFF A, so teams may be hoping to avoid being in the same group as that bot.

In the past, the world cups include the so-called “group of death” – the group that seems to be more difficult following the luck of the draw. With many groups distributed by many other groups – and the pots are very organized in the order of the FIFA rankings – it may not be an obvious group of death this time.

But there is still a huge difference in the quality of the teams that can come out of pot four, including the winners of the Everose Paryoff (which could include Denmand and New Zealand and New Zealand.
