Nelly Furtado is taking a break from her music career.
The Grammy-winning singer took to social media to step away from the concert stage amid a wave of online backlash.

“I’ve really enjoyed my job, and I still love writing music, as I’ve always seen it as a hobby I was lucky enough to work on.”
The Canadian-born artist, best known for 2000s hits including “I’m Like a Bird” and “Bad Behaviour,” is featured on his post tour celebrating the milestone.
“Twenty-five years ago today, my first album, ‘Whoa, Nelly!’ he was released. In the first slide, at the age of 20, I will play my first exhibition as a professional artist at the Lilith Fair, “he recalls. “I went down to a store called ‘Right’ on Queen West in Toronto and bought that pink car and some platinum shoes that were going to be made.”

Furtado continued, “twenty-five years later, my music has reached a new generation of fans, and I couldn’t be happier about this.”

The singer expressed gratitude for the relaunch of his music, which has found new life through streaming platforms and social media.

Furtado’s announcement comes just months after he faced scrutiny from online critics after his brave selection at Manchester Pride. At that time, the “Yisho” singer hit back at Trolls and celebrated his confidence, sending a message to fans.

This past summer, furtado wore an extreme white t-shirt with a cartoon image of a woman in a tank top and a mini skirt while he was performing at the Manchester Pride Fenust festival.
He appeared to be wearing the shirt as a subtle response to the physical attacks and has previously discussed pursuing legal action against “Internet Charlatans.”

Earlier this year, Furtado shared a glowing selfie in an Orange Bikini and revealed that “body neutrality” was part of her 2025 Welly.
“This year I saw the pressure of the beauty of my work in a new way, while at the same time, I found new levels of self-love and true self-confidence inside,” the original position was addressed.

Furtado also revealed that he recently took a stand against online scammers who used to have his name.
“I had to pursue legal action against several Charlatans selling services based on myths and legends about me,” he wrote. “For anyone who cares, I haven’t had any facial or body surgery or body augmentation, other than veneers on the top row of my teeth, recently.”

The pop singer clarified that she completely defended the cosmetic procedure.
Furtado added that she has never had “facials or lip injections or fillers of any kind,” instead acknowledging her lightness in simple skincare routines. “I rely on my old-school facialist, who I buy serums and creams from – and I started doing that when I was 20,” she explains.
