Windscript is not a VPN for everyone, and it doesn’t try to be. Despite its very successful free plan, it didn’t make my list of the best VPNs, mainly because of its disparate virtual selection and variable download speeds. Its iconoclastic approach to everything from design to pricing to its online knowledge base will likely win some customers for life and turn others away.
For those in the latter camp, I’ve written this guide to canceling Windscribe. Follow the instructions below to stop Windscribe from auto-renewing, cancel third-party subscriptions, delete your account permanently and get a refund.
The most important thing to know before we get started is that Windscribe’s money-back guarantee only lasts for seven days — if you paid for a subscription, you have to cancel before then to get a refund. Time is tighter than most VPNs, so be prepared to decide quickly.
How to reset your Windscript Pro subscription
To cancel Windscribe Pro, simply set your payment method to not automatically renew at the next subscription period. Once you have done this, you can continue to use Windscribe Pro until the end of the current period, then downgrade to the free version. Here are the steps you should follow.

In your browser, navigate to windscribe.com. Click on the names My account at the top of the home page.

Scroll down to the payment section. In the registration line, click on the highlighted button Cancel Subscription.

You will be taken to a new page. Enter your password at Your Password field. Below, enter a reason for cancellation (this can be “nothing” or “little,” which Windscribe will accept).

Click on Cancel Subscription button at the bottom of the page to stop automatic renewal of your account.

If your account also includes a static IP subscription, there is no way to cancel that through the standard dashboard. You will need to submit a support request by asking the Garry chatbot, which can be accessed by clicking the icon in the lower right corner of any page windscribe.com.
If you register for an app through a third party such as the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, that same third party also handles cancellations and refunds. Windscribe itself will not be able to do anything for you here.
If you registered with Google Play on an Android phone, you can cancel by opening the Google Play Store app and touch yours profile icon top right (the circle with the first letter of your username inside). Tap Payments and subscriptions in the menu that appears, then subscription on the next page. Find your Windscribe subscription, tap and click Cancel Subscription to eliminate payments.
If you’ve gone through the App Store on an Apple device, open the file Settings appand press your name at the top of the screen. Tap Subscriptions and scroll down to your Windscribe subscription. Tap it, then touch it Cancel Subscription.
How to delete your Windscribe account
If you are sure that you want to stop using Windscribe and never start again, you can erase your presence from its servers by deleting your account. To do this, go to windscribe.com and click on My account button in the header bar. Scroll all the way down and click on the bad title Stop Privacy button. This will show you the following image.

You will have to fight through a few comical attempts to finish deleting your account. Click Yes or No when asked if you have ever questioned your life choices. Enter your password, write whatever you want as a reason for cancellation and tick both boxes below the text field. I Delete the account the button at the end must be clicked; what to do Once you’ve saved it, you won’t be able to use the same email address to sign up for another account.
How to get a refund from Windscribe
As I warned above, you can only get a refund from Windscribe seven days after you paid for the subscription. And you can’t get your money back if you’ve used more than 10GB of data since the start of the billing period. Finally, you can only get a refund on the initial payment for each subscription — renewals are not eligible.
If you’re within those limits, you can request a refund by starting a conversation with the Garry chatbot. Click the chatbot icon at the bottom right of the Windscribe website to start a conversation. Note that you may have to persevere through several attempts to resolve your complaints before you can begin the refund process.
Some of the best Windscribe alternatives
Windscribe is a VPN with many positive points. That said, by the time you wade through the swamp of dick jokes to finish this show, I wouldn’t blame you for feeling vindicated in your decision to pull it off.
There are many good VPNs that can replace Windscribe. My favorite is Proton VPN, which also has a free plan, although it doesn’t have the ability to choose your server. ExpressVPN is simple and powerful, if overpriced, while Surfshark is the fastest VPN overall. If you like Windscribe for its non-VPN features, NordVPN has an even better list of additional benefits.
