Talk radio star Howard Stern announced Tuesday that he will stick with SiriusXM for another three years after speculation about his future swirled.

This shocked player, who has lost his strength in recent years as he accepts “awakened” ideas, was thinking about his future with this radio station after working for 20 years, and his contract will expire at the end of this year. But Stern put those rumors to rest on Tuesday, announcing his decision to stay.

“I’m happy to announce that I’ve found a way to have it all. A lot of free time and still being on the radio. So, yeah, we’re coming back for three years,” Stern told listeners during his final 2025 show.

“Thank you to the good people here at SiriusXM, which I told you, I really love,” Stern said. “I was really sad… I still love being on the radio. I think the show is better than before, I believe that in my heart.”

Tabloids have been speculating that Stern will leave, with many suggesting that SiriusXM won’t offer enough money to keep him around.

Earlier this year, the shock jock returned from summer break and amused his audience when host Andy Cohen opened the show by pretending to host Stern’s show.

“Everything you read in the paper about me or Robin was completely false,” Stern said at the time. “SiriusXM and my team have been talking about how we move forward in the future, they approached me. They sat down with me like they always do and they were very nice.”

Stern, dubbed the “King of All Media,” burst onto the scene in 1985 and attracted tens of millions of daily listeners to terrestrial radio before jumping to Sirius in 2006. Today, he reportedly attracts only 125,000 daily listeners.

“The Howard Stern Show” has moved away from its roots as a pioneer of the “shock jock” format during the Trump era. In 2023, Stern famously called being “woke” a “compliment,” and expressed disdain for Trump voters.

The former radio bad boy, who used to welcome Trump on his show, increased his criticism of Trump during his presidency.

“I don’t support Trump politically, I don’t think he should be anywhere near the White House. I don’t hate the guy. I hate the people who voted for him. I think they’re stupid. I do. I’ll be honest with you, I don’t respect you,” Stern said in 2024.

President Trump even responded to rumors that Stern’s show was ending during an Oval Office event earlier this year.

“Howard Stern, that’s a name I’ve never heard. I used to do his show, I used to have fun, but I haven’t heard that name in a long time,” Trump said.

“You know when he came down? When he endorsed Hillary Clinton,” Trump continued. “He lost his audience.”

Stern has also been a staunch supporter of the COVID vaccine mandate and has often chided people who are resuming normal lives during the pandemic.

Stern will return live on the air on Monday, January 5.
