‘IT: Welcome to the chaos of Derry, explained

Well, that was a lot, wasn’t it? The nearest characteristic length is the characteristic of It: welcome to dery It throws all of Dreerry into a dark fog, with the military working to try and allow penanywin to open in America while the children, Chris Hallorann (Chris Adepo), and Major Hanlon (Jovan Adepo) try and restore it.
There are flash forwards, time travel references, and other tidbits to Stephen King’s novels as well It movies you might have missed. We’ve broken down all the big questions below.
Is Derry in ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ a real city?
What happened to PennyWife?
At the end of episode 7, Penkwini’s cycle of killing ends with a fire in the dark, and the creature was ready to return to sleep for another 27 years – until the army got involved. General Shaw (James Remar) and a group of villains decide it’s a good idea to let the clown loose, and they end up destroying one of the pillars that forms a circle around Drerry and serves as the creature’s cage.
During the storm of episode 8, PennywiWene makes a break on the far bank of the river around Dredry, which will obviously be completely free of other pillars that act as a cage. Fortunately, it doesn’t get that far. Using their Meteor France that fell to Earth years ago, the kids are able to change the cage times before the creature can program them. Pulled away from them the distance, they may return to hibernation until the start of the 1988 cycle.

Before the children catch pennywise, the clown pulls Mil (Matilda Lawler) and reveals to him one day he has a son: Richie Tozier, the main character, the main character and a member of the Lesors’ Club.
“The seed of your stinking clown and his filthy companions have brought me my death! Or is it birth?” growls pennywise. “I’m confused. Tomorrow? Yesterday? It’s all the same with little PennyWife.”

Later, back in the safety of the standpipe, Marge talks to Lilly (Clara’s stack) about what PennyWise said.

“He said, For him, the past, the present, and the future are all the same. And that his death was actually his birth,” said Marge. “I know it sounds crazy, but what if he tries to go back and kill someone from before we were born, like our parents?”
Lilly’s answer? “I think it’s going to be somebody else’s fight.”
This discussion appears to be scheduled for future periods of It: welcome to dery. We already know that Co-creator Andy Muschietti wants there to be three seasons, with season 2 and season 3 jumping back in time to previous PennyWise murder cycles. Marge and Lilly’s exchange is the perfect lead up to this.
What’s next for the great Hanlon and Dick Hallorann?
The final scenes with hanlon and hallorann are staples in both of stephen king’s extensive works and It movies. Hallorann, who is best known as the main character in the To shinehe tells Hanlon he’s going to work at a friend’s hotel in London as a chef – the start of a job we know will eventually take him to the Overlook Hotel.
“How much trouble can a hotel be?” you prune. Of course, readers of the book will know rightly so how much trouble.
Hanlon, at that time, decides to stay in Dery with his family and start working on the farm. When the readers of the book know, his grandson will be Mike Hanlon, another key member of the arsonist club.
What about Flash forward in the last place?
The last scene in the series has an unexpected flash to 1988, where we meet another member of the Losers’ Club (Sophia Lillis, answering her role in the movies), witnessing his suicide in Juniper Hill.
Ingrid Kersh (Madeleine Stowe), now an old woman who has been in an asylum since the events of the 1960s Clicle, appears behind him, smiling, and tells him that no one in Dery has ever really died.
This scene actually brings things back full circle in the movies, connecting to the scene IT: CHAPTER TWO When Beverly Beverly (Jessica Chastain) is threatened by a creature in the form of Mrs. Kersh.
