Joan Laporta says Hansi Flick revival coming ‘soon’

Barcelona president-elect Joan Laporta has promised that a contract renewal is on the way for Hansi Flick, after winning the election on Sunday. Laporta was elected by a landslide, winning almost 70% of the votes, ahead of Victor Font, and was celebrated in style afterwards.
Laporta was present on Sunday during Barcelona’s 5-2 win over Sevilla on Sunday at Camp Nou, as the election continues. When the result was confirmed, he was seen to be happy in his campaign offices, and entered the dressing room. On Tuesday, he told RAC1 (via MD) that the celebrations went late into the night.
“I arrived at Luz de Gas at 3:00 in the morning I was very happy, I was very relaxed, they played the Barca song, ‘Viva la Vida’ which we heard with Pep and Rijkaard. The song they didn’t eat that I enjoyed was Nilsson’s ‘Everybody’s Talking’ at 5:00 in the morning I returned home, I called my mother, she woke me up. I was happy.”

“Then I walked my dog, had lunch at home, and later, at my house, we met Rafa Yuste and Josep Cubells. I cannot make any official appointment or representation until July 1. Rafael Yuste is the president.”
‘We will announce the deal with Flick soon’
One of the key elements in Laporta’s campaign was a promise of continuity, saying he would continue to support the Director of Football Deco, as well as Flick. Although the German manager will retract Laporta’s statements, the President said the deal will be done soon.
“We want to renew his contract – it will run until 2027 – until 2028, each season has a one-year ban. He agrees, and we will announce the deal soon. I envision my entire time at the helm. It will show stability and show that he has earned it.”
“Although he respects our way of playing, he has introduced changes that have made the team work again with players like them that they have not worked with before.”
Deco may also be in line for a new contract
Font said he would look to replace Deco if elected. Laporta brought him back to the top, and said he was also willing to extend his contract. Deco’s contract is up at the end of the season.
“I would very much like to renew it because you are doing an extraordinary job, and it is not easy to find such harmony between the sports director and the coach.”

Laporta on summer spending plans
Looking ahead to the summer, Barcelona are expected to make a move to replace Robert Lewandowski, but Laporta did not commit to offering the Polish veteran a new contract last week.
“If it needs to be strengthened, it will be strengthened. We have a number 9. Harry Kane would have been equal to Lewandowski.”
On the other hand, Laporta was strong in the hope of signing Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United on a permanent deal.
“Marcus is doing very well with assists and goals, and Cancelo is still an important player because of the injuries to the defenders. We will try, given Barca’s interest, to ensure that Marcus continues.”
Barcelona have a €30m purchase option on Rashford’s loan deal, but it is not guaranteed they will choose to exercise it, even if they are keen to keep him. On the other hand, the word on Joao Cancelo is that Barcelona will consider offering him a deal if he negotiates a termination of his contract with his loan club Al-Hilal.
