Lindsey Vonn crashes during the Winter Olympics medal ceremony

Lindsey Vonn was the 13th skier to hit the slopes in the women’s alpine skiing at the Olympics in Milan Cortina on Sunday and her dreams of becoming stronger with a devastating knee injury to stop the medal field.
Vonn was entering the first field when she fell hard on the slopes. The crowd gasped as they agreed to the blackout. He winced in pain when the medical professionals came to check on him. A helicopter arrived to take Vonn off the mountain.

This Olympic champion was trying to win a medal in this competition despite having a serious knee injury during the World Cup. He made it clear in subsequent social media posts that his ACL is “100% gone.”
ACL tears typically involve a year-long recovery, but Vonn plans to fight through it.

He made a surprise return to the game last year after almost six years away from the competition. His return followed a titanium implant in his right knee, which he received in 2024.
This Team USA legend is the second winningest woman in World Cup history with 84 wins. He has won eight World Championship medals.
Vonn won a gold medal in downhill and a bronze medal in super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games and a bronze medal in downhill at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games. Will be looking to add to his Italian collection.

She was also set to compete in the women’s super-G, but a crash may rule her out of that event.
