McDonald’s Japan is passing through the RPTER Strafless lid
McDonald’s Japan will begin rolling out Paper STRADS and introduce them to 100% pet
Shift to sitfle lids—designed so customers can drink directly from a cup—is the company’s comprehensive packaging plan to cut the use of lyron plastic around 2022 and 2025.
McDonald’s Japan Inc., located in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Ward and CEO of President and CEO Thomas Ko, explained the steps in the update of 27 October 2025.
Switch to powerless countries starting November 19th
A new non-custom rter cover will be used on the soft drink paper cups and will replace the current set-up and str.
According to the company, the cover has been in development for more than three years to meet the needs of the store, take, delivery and drive orders. The design features a drinking spout that is intended to open easily while resisting accidental spills on the move.
For carbonated drinks, the stroke is designed to limit liquid “Blow-Out” caused by pressure changes during movement. As emissions break out across the country, paper straws will be cut one after the other.
The move to “wave bottle”, “RPET” and “Recycled Pet” areas is at the heart of McDonald’s plastic reduction strategy.
The company’s target is determined to be approximately 6,600 tons of plastic waste per year
McDonald’s Japan says it has been reviewing containers and materials since 2022 with the aim of prioritizing renewable, functional or certified.
A series of changes – reaching the introduction of RET bottles without sifters – is expected to reduce the annual consumption of virgin plastic by 6,600 tons used entirely.
The company initiated the change as part of a multi-year plan that runs through 2025, adapting to broader retail trends through plastic reduction, packaging efficiency and circularity.
Biomass Plastic Partic bags are expanding throughout the country
Starting November 19, stores overseas in Japan will begin switching their carrier bags to versions made of 95% BIOMASS Plastic, replacing the previous 50% BIOMASS BIOMASS.
The high-content bags are being piloted starting in 2025 at all McDonald’s stores in the Nagasaki region (23 locations, excluding the Sasebo Air Base store). The company reports that the durability and usability are on par with previous bags, paving the way for national distribution.
Customers are encouraged to dissolve in bags when they are not needed as part of ongoing efforts to reduce packaging waste.
Good organized items move to certified paper and away from plastic v
In addition to drinks and carrier bags, McDonald’s Japan says it is working to move all Happy Set® toys to renewable, renewable or certified or certified or certified by the end of 2025.
As part of that effort, the company changed its picture books – presented in Happy Set in March 2025 – from a hardcover format using a vorcover format using a softcover made of FSc certified paper.
The book’s packaging has similarly changed from plastic to an FSC certified paper bag.
These measures add to the goals stated by the company around the reduction of virgin plastic and finding the energy source for its family and children.
