Nintendo Direct February 2026: Everything we expect to see

The Nintendo Direct is happening this week, so it’s time to round up all our guesses about what the gaming giant will reveal.

The live stream will air on Nintendo’s YouTube channel at 6am PT/9am ET on Thursday, Feb. 5. Listed as a Nintendo Direct partner showcase for third-party games, which means the chances of seeing any original Nintendo games are very low, if not zero.

However, that does not mean that we cannot expect happiness. The show is 30 minutes long and includes games for both Switch again Switch 2.

Here’s what we expect to see, and what we’d like to see, at the show.

BREAKFUT:

It’s official: The Switch is Nintendo’s best-selling console

Many fantasy ports

Since this Direct will focus heavily on third-party games, it’s reasonable to expect a decent portion of it to be dedicated to ports of existing games. From Software (we will return to them later) has already announced the Switch 2 port of Elden Ring with a 2026 release, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an exact launch date during this Direct.

There may be at least one highly criticized RPG getting a Switch 2 port. Nintendo YouTuber NateTheHate predicted that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will appear during Direct with a release date of 2026. Publisher Square Enix recently released a Switch 2 version of that game’s prequel, Final Fantasy VII Remakein January, and apparently it’s selling very well.

As the square has already confirmed Rebirth will be coming to the Switch 2 at some point, it would make sense for the next installment in the series to appear now.

The smash hit of 2024 Metaphor: ReFantazio and would be a reasonable candidate for a Switch 2 release.

A second look The Duskbloods?

Towards the end of the Switch 2’s big debut last year, Nintendo announced The Duskbloodsa brand new Switch 2-exclusive game from the creators of Elden RingFrom Software.

Since then, we haven’t seen or heard anything about it The Duskbloodsdespite its announced release date of 2026. Given that this isn’t a first-party Nintendo game, it could, and arguably, received prominent placement in this Direct.

007: First Light

I quickly got a peek 007: First Lightis the upcoming James Bond game from the makers of Hitman. It seems to be an interesting combination of set-piece action sequences and creative secret levels. And a Switch 2 release is confirmed when it launches on May 27.

It would be a huge deal for Nintendo if First Light appeared in any place during this Direct, but there is also a debate that we have seen everything we need to see about this game before it is released.

Resident Evil: Requiem and other Capcom games

Speaking of the upcoming multiplatform release with Switch 2 versions, Resident Evil: Requiem launched at the end of February. Capcom maybe it doesn’t need to do much marketing for this game, which looked great when I played it a few weeks ago, but it didn’t hurt to at least remind people that it exists and that it’s coming to Switch 2.

The same goes Pragmataan interesting looking science fiction shooter with a unique hacking mechanism. It launches on Switch 2 (and everything else) in April.

I don’t mind seeing more Monster Hunters Stories 3a new entry in what is lowkey one of the best spin-off series in gaming right now.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 turns the action game genre on its head. It offers really fun reaction based combat and a different take The Pokémon-style monster collecting Mechanics. This is one of my most anticipated games of 2026, and I would love to see more of them during this Direct.

At least one thing we won’t see coming

As with all Nintendo Directs, leave room for the unexpected. There will probably be a “one more thing…” announcement at the end that could be anything listed here, or something no one predicted.

Nobody in the business is better than Nintendo at preventing leaks and hiding secrets, which is part of what makes Nintendo Direct so compelling. We will get together on Thursday morning.
