Robbery Suspects All claim refugee status, Canada’s Border Agency says

Canada’s deportation program after BC’s postunition epidemic hit a roadblock after every single suspect sent to attend was fired and the deportation status turned into deportation.
Foreigners have been identified by the BC Robbery force, but when the Canada Border Services Agency began to investigate, they all said they were refugees.
As a result, the deportation of the 14 suspects was put in place until the arrival of the people and the refugee board determines that they have legal cases of persecution.
“14 people made a refugee claim after the CBSA began investigating them for alleged non-availability,” the border agency told the world news.
“The CBSA must now wait for the refugee protection phase [of the IRB] “Deciding on the merits of their requests before taking further action,” said a spokesperson for the group.
A spokeswoman for the immigration agency said it would not comment on the story, and did not respond when asked if they were all Indian citizens.
The Immigration Vice-Chair of the BC branch of the Canadian Bar Association says that those accused of involvement in crime are still being raised during their time as refugees.
The refugee board was denying their asylum applications on the grounds that they were found in Canada because of the crime, Hayer said.
But by making refugee claims, the suspects could be delaying their deportation for years, said Vancouver lawyer Thindard Kurland.
“They just buy four years in Canada, with a subsidized life. If they want to go to school, that’s subsidized, and if they need public assistance,” he said.
Kurland blamed the backlog of refugee cases. “And that’s because Ottawa refuses to prove to the IRB that it’s providing expedited hearings to prevent a four-year wait,” he said.
The deportations are important in Canada’s effort to address the nominations that have been proposed by members of the South Asian community, particularly in BC’s Lower Mainland and Brampton, Ont.
Indian criminal groups such as the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, which Canada listed as a terrorist group on September 29, have been demanding high payments from business owners and others.

After threatening the victims over the phone, gang leaders in India will then send local soldiers to carry out arson and shootings to pressure them into paying.
Because the Indian government allegedly used a Bishnoi gang to attack its political opponents in Canada, the issue has become associated with foreign interference and external pressure.
In September, the BC government put in place a crackdown to deal with “organized criminal activity involved in related threats.” It is led by the RCMP and staffed by police and immigration officials.

The CBSA is “an integral part” of the Task Force, according to the RCMP, which said immigration officers help execute search warrants, conduct investigations and share information with police.
As of December 4, the CBSA had opened 96 investigations into other foreign nationals identified by the Discumper Task Force. Eleven of those were issued removal orders, and five have already been deported.
All 11 were found to be ‘unaccompanied,’ the term generally meaning that their student or work permits had expired, or they had not attended school, or could not be employed in jobs, placed on their visas.
“Additionally, 14 individuals were recognized in the Pacific region from the IRB blind division,” CBSA said.
“These cases are currently before the IRB for a decision.”
But the CBSA later admitted to international media that all 14 claimed to be refugees and therefore their cases were sent to the IRB’s refugee division, halting deportation efforts.
The IRB did not respond to questions about the cases.

On Sunday, three Canadian organizations will hold a town hall meeting in Surrey, BC to discuss Indian transnational oppression and looting, which it said has reached “problem levels.”
“Families, businesses, and community members are facing intimidation, threats, and non-Canadian violence,” Sikh Martyr, the World Sikh Council and Postan World Sikh Canada are promoting the event.
The RCMP warned in October 2024 that Indian government suppliers were involved in ‘serious criminal activity in Canada,’ including extortion. Indian political and labor authorities are involved.
India has not acknowledged its alleged role in violent crime in Canada, and has not publicly vowed to stop.
But since taking office, prime minister Park Carney has moved quickly to reform ties with India in hopes of securing a trade deal.
