Apart from the usual injection of heroes and villains from the Marvel multiverse, Competitors‘ cosmetic skins have been keeping the game fresh with comical differences in looks, homages to movies from the MCU (and beyond), and plenty of fun original ideas. But one of its most luxurious skins however is the amazing combination of creativity and comic knowledge to make one of the game’s most amazing supporting heroes into a goddess.
After being teased here and there in the past weeks, today NetEase has revealed an official look at one of its most interesting skin ideas yet: a complete gender change on Loki. She was inspired by Lady Loki’s appearance after Ragnarok’s rebirth in 2007 Thor run, the new skin is not just a change of Loki’s model as he appears in the game at the moment; comes with his own unique visuals and voice acting, provided by Dan Da DanAbby Trott (already familiar with Competitors community as the voice of Illyana Rasputina, aka Magik). In addition, you have some fun, unique emotes and the usual special animations for MVP.

There was plenty Competitors skins in the past that have already changed voice lines and sounds, as well as a large amount that provides a powerful adjustment to the silhouette of a certain character. And, of course, there were plenty of skins covering them all Competitors‘ characters, male and female alike, with less dangerous skin. But what makes Lady Loki stand out is what she represents in terms of completely gender-swapping the character, which Competitors he’s never done it before (except for the old PC modders who do it for fun, that is).
It opens up a very interesting set of floodgates for what the game can do next in terms of similar skins for other members of its roster. Loki’s brother Thor is the next possible easy step, of course, giving us a skin based on Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor. Although they are clearly different characters in the comics, the arrival of Deadpool in the game in the next few weeks could leave us open to a different Gwenpool, or one of the Spider-woman heroes could be Peter. It doesn’t just have to be gender-swapping but it can feature shared identities and villains like Jean Gray and Madelyne Pryor, stripping Jean of her fiery phoenix abilities with the demonic powers of the Goblin Queen.
You can’t go again far from it, of course-otherwise you risk disappointing the fans of characters who can be interesting spectacles, or throw away, current members of the cast seeing their favorite reduced to skin instead of their own unique, unique member of the list (no one would want to see She-Hulk, X-23, or Sam Wilson’s Cap not getting their own unique example next to Steve, Logan). But it’s still an exciting new trend Competitors to begin exploring, now that the proverbial Pandora’s box seal has been opened by Loki himself.
